I was a bit miffed when Slacker stopped supporting their FREE version on Playbook and 7.1. I have slacker on the 9900 and on the Playbook. I love the human curated playlists and the overall feel of the app on Playbook. But a month or so ago, it stopped working because Slacker needs the newest version so they can PUSH you ADVERTISING and the old apps don't support this.
    BUT
I called and any version of their pay service then allows you to use the old apps since advertising is removed with your subscription. At $3.99 a month for the Plus subscription, I can handle that. So I'm back in fat city with Slacker and happy as a Jazz cat.

On a recent business trip I only took the Playbook. I missed having a physical keyboard for emails so I went out on a limb and paid a whopping $21 for the only Playbook keyboard I could find on Amazon. (I'm kidding about the "whopping"). It works fine, but the keys leave a lot to be desired. You really have to hammer them because they are the rubber sensor keys. Otherwise, the darn thing works great and turns your Playbook into a pseudo laptop. You'll still have to touch the screen because there is no mouse, but I can't really complain for 20 bucks. It doesn't even look half bad as a case and protects the Playbook fairly well. As long as you are a strong typist.. meaning hard pressing on the keyboard, it will work for you.

I was so annoyed with all the browsers' performance on YouTube until I tried as some have already suggested: Origami browser set to iPad as the default user agent.

Works 100% better than the native browser. At least I got back the full screen mode with no lag whatsoever.

    No signing in, but whatever.

    Thanks! I'll try that out!

I don't expect much, and def won't be watching anything in HD mode, just don't want the constant flicker/popping happening.

You might have gotten a bum keyboard. I have the same one and have never had an issue with needing to tap any harder than I do on a standard laptop/desktop computer. I also use the Apple Magic Mouse for my mouse, I picked up a used one on Ebay for $30. Most will say all of that defeats the purpose of having a tablet and I agree to a point, I write screenplays and the keyboard and mouse work better in conjunction with the My Screenplays app.

Thank you for the reply. I may try another one. There are a few "Reviews" on Amazon about how hard the Keyboard it to type on. Perhaps you got an earlier version and they changed manufacture and the new ones are harder. I just got mine in October.

Bottom line, I like it. I don't think I can use the Apple Mouse because I bridge my Playbook to my 9900 for business, and the keyboard is taking up the remaining Bluetooth port. Unless the mouse can piggy back. I'll have to check it out. If I had a mouse, it would be EXCELLENT. I appreciate the help.

I have 3 play books. One for work and email and two for personal. I'm probably going to sell or give away to a family member one of those. I love the long battery life and great screen resolution. I do wish the browsers worked better and more of a selection of apps. I have not tried side loading anything but I may. It would be nice if BlackBerry would give just a tiny update to those who have been loyal to the PlayBook and to BlackBerry.

PlayBook supports multiple Bluetooth devices concurrently. It works with most bt keyboards and mice. Just get a cheap mouse and enjoy.

Mine serves as my mobile media player. With 64g of storage and no DRM, I have movies, music, and a few ebooks to entertain me while traveling.

My iPad Air2 and Galaxy S4 serve as my mobile work platform, but I still use my Playbook/Torch combo!

I've tried to use my iPad for work, but could not believe an adapter to hook it up to a projector via hdmi was $70! The store actually recommended Apple TV instead, which seems a bit ridiculous.

So instead I still use my PB hooked up with a $2 hdmi cable, and present that way.

Awesome! That's something that most people don't know is that those micro HDMI cords are super cheap these days.

Ended up buying an MS Surface at Black Friday pricing. Yet to receive it and try it out, but I expect that it'll end up being my toy going forward. The Playbook will become a device for the kids and a multimedia device (stream music, etc). The Surface will likely end up being my video device of choice. While the Playbook did a fair job of playing movies, the slow transfer rates and other irks have over time worn me down. Still a good device with some use, but after three years it's time for me to update.

I just use it for browsing the Web and playing (hd) video.

Browsing the Web is perfectly doable since I block ads and other spy stuff on the router.

Sound quality is phenomenal, so if my receiver didn't have Internet radio, I would hook up the PlayBook .

I actually prefer the Playbook BRIDGED to my 9900 for business more than I do my iPad BLENDED to my Q5 or Z30.

The form and function of how the Playbook Bridges to the 9900 makes it more productive and intuitive and flowing (FOR ME) than using Blend. It is obvious that Bridge via Playbook was designed under a different set of goals than Blend. If I had never used Bridge, then I probably would think Blend was totally amazing. It's personal preference, but I prefer Bridge/Playbook/9900 for basic business use.

I used the BlackBerry bridge + 99xx combo for a long time. Few years actually. It was awesome. I still miss it to this day. But I couldn't go back to the 9930 for the lack of modern apps at this point. But as a get stuff done and communication tool it still does a great job. Beats the BlackBerry PlayBook and Q10 combo hands down.

Understood. I fortunately don't need many Apps. Honestly my most desirable App is "Slacker" and that's still available on all BlackBerry devices. But if I need Apps - like my banking App, I have them on another device.

I have three lines. I run two businesses one during the week and one on weekends. I also have a personal line, so I have three smartphones. I use the 9900 and the Playbook on one line, a Q5 or the z30 on the 2nd line, and a new Android on the third.

I like the 9900/Playbook Bridge for raw communication and business far more than the Q5 or z30 Blended to my iPad. If I was not relying heavily on communication on the line I dedicate to the 9900/Playbook Bridge, then I'd be fine with BlackBerry Blend.

One thing about the old 9900 that drives me crazy is making phone calls by direct input on the 9900. If I have to tap out a number, the keys are so darn small for my fingers, I frequently fat-finger it and make mistakes. There is no "On-Screen" dialing like on a BB10 device. However, since most of my calls are via contacts, I'm OK with it. I'll have to retire the 9900/Playbook eventually, and go with Blend and a BB10 device to an iPad or Tablet, but not yet. I estimate I've got about two more years, then it will be time to finally retire the 9900 and the Playbook.

Well just last night I placed a Z30->PlayBook Video Chat call when facetime failed on an old iPad2 because of inadequate bandwidth on the hotel internet. Worked perfectly. It is still sad to see the missed opportunities with this device.

Cool. Any links to how I do this? I've a Playbook at home and my phone is a Z30.
