Without any warning (but there hardly ever is anyway) my PB doesn't connect to the PC through USB anymore. On the PB-side of things I do get the message screen that the PB is connected, but on the PC-side of things the PB isn't even recognized anymore. This has worked fine up to a few days ago (I didn't check the last two). Now my question to you is: what could be going on, are there ways to troubleshoot this and eventually fix it, or should I simply buy the next iPhone that comes on my way (I'd really rather not BTW).

I don't know what an iPhone has to do with the problem.

What version of Windows, Linux or OSX are you using?
Try starting the Blackberry Desktop application.

    Joke, I hope?

Nothing, apart from the fact that a hardware failure would leave me in need of, yes, any new tablet, not just an iPhone. So it was, partly a joke.

I'm on Windows 7 x64 and have tried starting the BB desktop software several times.

    Try downloading BlackBerry Link
    This also has PB support
You could also have a faulty cable

Thanks. I will have to look into those. Is there any way to test the faultiness of a cable if you own only one?
What exactly would the benefits of this Link software be, BTW?

It gives you the ability to bend space and time and opens worm holes in your living room
    Kidding. That's the next update

It's the software that is used to Link to the new BlackBerry 10 phones it also has PB support

The software your running should work fine so it could be an issue with that install
You could try re download that version

Don't know of a way to test the cable.

Reboot both devices. UNinstall and REinstall the Desktop software.

The LINK software is newer and while seems to specify BB10 devices, works for the pb.

Go into Device manager on pc, ROLL back the driver for the Rim or pb.

Ah, being slammed by an air bag did not hamper me as much as I believed!!! Glad it worked.

Now, if only Thor would be as helpful in reply to your email!

Sounds like you have solved my problem too! But sorry, how does one roll back a driver?

    Thanks very much.

You can only roll back the driver if you have a previously installed driver on your PC. To roll back, on your PC, plug in your PB by USB, then go to Control Panel, then Device Manager, then double click on Blackberry, then click on the driver tab of the window that pops up, then click Roll Back Driver.
