My initial reaction was that it runs like a herd of turtles. Slightly better, now, after a few reboots. Hoping it will continue to improve. If not, I am going to be very sorry I updated.

Main improvement is in Android runtime. Significant performance gains here.

First time I ran an android app, it totally locked up. Second time, the same. Third time, it won't even start. Time for another reboot

Edit. After 5 reboots, I can now run android apps. I have not tested them all, just the one es I use most.

They're not going to all work especially when the Android Runtime is still just at 2.3.3.

I did the leak a few days ago, but had to side load the video store and video chat .bar files.... does this official release include what was missing from the leaked version?

    On bb's pb page:

BlackBerry PlayBook Support Updates - PlayBook Software Support - Canada (I was asked to complete a survey - which basically was ONE question - would I strongly or not at all recommend bb!!!!!!!!!!!!")

    "

Includes the following updates for all models of the BlackBerry PlayBook (Wi-Fi only and 4G/4G LTE™)
Adobe Flash Player security updates to ensure customers remain protected from these issues
Resolves issues where some users were unable to either purchase or upgrade apps within the BlackBerry World™ storefront

Updates for the 4G/4G LTE PlayBook are subject to carrier availability."
Yep like last time I had to wait almost a week for rogers to update LTE version.

We will see how I have to wait for this one.

I even tried a Force Update Procedure and None Found..... Boo Rogers... Booo

Wow, that was fast. I figured we wouldn't have the official updated for a few weeks. And I'm at work without my PlayBook I wonder if I can find something to hold down the F5 key on my keyboard for this thread...
Maybe BB decided to get it out to us ..... before the doors closed!

Guys do you think that BBM Android would be able to sideload in PlayBook?

    Posted via CB10
No. BBM for Android will require v 4.0 or higher.

The only thing noticeable to me is that sideloaded Flipboard runs a lot smoother. I don't have any proof or evidence, but the latest Flipboard 2.07 is dare I say almost smooth. Loading of course still takes forever, but I can actually use the app and quickly flip between articles now whereas before it was too laggy to be functional. Other sideloaded apps run at about the same speed (twitter, pinterest, linkedin etc.) but they do seem to load a bit quicker than before. I did not wipe the OS or make any modifications to it apart from just installing the update OTA.

Will running the OTA update require re-sideloading all sideloaded andriod apps? And will it require resetting all the browser bookmarks for both the native browser and Origami browser?

    Thanks for any info...Cheers!

The Wifi version always had video store, bing maps, Zino, freaking Kudo and a couple other that came back today like herpes. The video chart didn't notice, have to look for. I noticed a lock icon when I tap the battery icon. The biggest thing I noticed is that with this Flash I can't watch HBO GO anymore

It should NOT alter any installs or settings. But a backup of what is important is generally a good idea anyway.

Not in my experience. But, than again, what did nearly 400MB update accomplished?!? I see no difference on my Playbook.
And I would discount the reports by many people that some applications run faster - they probably had not rebooted their tablet in a while. It will do that!

I didn't even backup, just go straight for it. Was a smooth update with no hiccups - you won't have to reinstall anything.

Nope, nothing to do with the reboot. Flipboard 2.07 runs relatively smoothly whereas it was unusable before, that I can attest to with certainty.

Android sideloaded apps seems to close much harder. Same for Origami and the 'much improved browser'. Wonderfull. Should we tweet to Mr. Saunders about the update itself?

This is a pleasant surprise. BB should do this more often...its better to under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver. Anyways...thanks BB...there are many of us who still love our PB and use it everyday.

After a few reboots, the keyboard lag has certainly lessened. But the browser still needs Java content turned off to load an image-heavy page at anything like decent speed...
