Something has happened to iplayer. It always defaults to the mobile site now so I can no longer get the HD versions streaming to the PB.. Does anyone have a workaround or am I just being a bit dense?

Using the app, which takes you to the mobile iplayer site

That's the same for me as well now but I used to go to the non-mobile site so I could get the "play in HD" option. I can't do that anymore which in very annoying as I like to plug the PB into my big telly and watch stuff in glorious HD.

The work around I know of is:

    1) download Simple Browser from appworld (it's free)

    2) launch it, click on the settings (the icon next to the right arrow), tap on the gear icon next to the "Set User Agent"

    3) in the "Enter Custom User Agent String:" delete the first part of the string that says "Mozilla/5.0 (PlayBook;U;RIM Tablet OS 2.1.0; en-US)

    4) After deleting it tap on "Custom" and just type on the address bar "http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/" and you are in the full site.

Hi Dave, It works! Thanks for that. It's so annoying when things get changed that used to work fine. I just got a PB for the missus and was setting it up when I noticed the change.

I just set SimpleBrowser to Chrome UA. How do you get it to play on HD?

I've noticed that the the work around I suggested above does not work any more at least in my PB.
If you set the UA to Firefox it will work just fine though.

Just tried it a minute ago, using the iPlayer link on the PlayBook (but just really opens the browser wtih a URL) worked find - I briefly saw a flash related message, then it loaded the video, played quickly, and without issue (in this instance HIGNFY).

Do a check for updates, then, and see if you get a small update that recreates it.
