    Hello,

After more than one year without problems with my playbook....
    The problems reappers...

From a day to another... the touchscreen spots working.
But the phisical buttons are working.
Anyone have any idea whats going on?

I try to power off/on the playbook... nothing.
I try to hard reset... nothing.

Is there any form of doing a factory reset without going to the options menu?

I would be thankfull for some help here.

Not quite sure what you mean. Since you mention the physical buttons are working, I assume you are saying only the top right corner of your playbook screen not working?

Well.. if there's no solution i will try to go the store where I bought it to see if is possible to repair.
The only problem in that case is... Playbook as 1 ou 2 years of warranty?
If is only one year... the warranty is gone because o bought it in may of last year.

I would still call up the tech support and talk to them. I've read about users who were out of warranty time frame that still get their PB repair or replace with no extra charges. It's worth a try.

If I recall, there are some jurisdictions where the warranty by law may be longer than one year. The NORMAL warranty is only one year but on some occasions bb has been generous and still repaired or replaced units.

    Reload or Debrick

    Try the Debrick method....

Perform a backup of your pb if you can using Desktop Manager or, at least, manually coping any unique data, photos, voice recordings, documents, etc.

    1) Turn your playbook OFF by holding down the power button
    2) Let your playbook sit for about 10 minutes as earlier suggested.
    3) After letting the PB sit (and still powered off) open up the Blackberry Desktop Software (the latest version)
    4) Once the Blackberry Desktop Software is opened, use the USB Cable and hook the PB to the PC.. THEN power on the Playbook
    5) A screen will show on your computer showing that the device cannot be found
    6) Click on Update. It will take awhile

I had the some problem today around 2 pm. My mini-key board and touch screen key board works but the screen wouldn't track up or down thru the digitizer. This happens every so often to my PlayBook. I power down my PlayBook and restart it works for several months. Wait until your PlayBook freaks out and starts opening apps and documents on its own.

Hello, thanks for the explanation of the method. I did the rebrick thing.
I clicked on "update" button and after waiting 1/2 min, it says me that no updates are available.
    And didnt nothing else.
What is suppose to happen here?

How old is the unit? Warranty? Did you drop it? It would sound like a hardware problem.

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

Didn't drop it, nothing like that... And outside the tablet is in perfect conditions.
I bought in May of last Year (it means that more than one year pass).
I will go today to Staples store where I bought it, to see if there's warranty or not (1 or 2 years). Because I've read somewhere that in Portugal all the products most have at least 2 years of warranty.
If not I will try to call Blackberry Customer Support.
Thanks for the contacts and for the Debrick method.

Each post needs to be at least 12 or 15 characters long. I think he added "filler" just to meet this requirement.

Hello, I did the debrick method like they told me In this post. Did it, two or three times. I also call BlackBerry customers services. They also told me to do the debrick method. But after doing the PlayBook touch continued to not work... And one day without doind anything, it simply starts working again normaly. Maybe Its a problem of humidity or something like that. Try to let you tablet In a dry place for a couple of days without doing anything. If nothing of this make it work, just call BlackBerry customers service.

Everything I tried didn't work, after several hours it quit on its own. It was like someone was going through my PlayBook looking for something.

There is a thread here on Crackberry but wasn't much help. If it doesn't pull out of it BlackBerry may be the answer.
