If I just bought a struggling company the first thing I would do is go back to one of the best money losers you had and try to lose some more money. Buy a Nexus 7 for 229.00 lol

I actually asked a similar question when they announced he had left the Board. I wondered it maybe he was a PB supporter and might take a different direction. Anyone know what kind of relationship he had with Thor? He probably loves Thor since Thor drove the share price down and then down some more!

Sure he made things of value, less valuable. You think just any old CEO can do that ?

It takes someone special to make a brand new popcorn machine worthless in a matter of hours.
Actually, too many of them do that today and then bail using their golden parachutes!

Don't you mean that he knows exactly what BB is not doing, or not doing right, or needs to do before his 10% stake is completely worthless.
What I want to know (not being a Harvard mba), if they pay approx 4.x billion for it but BB has 3 billion (two?) in cash, they really believe the company is worth the remainder??? Sounds like a reasonable investment.

I said months ago they where setting up for a sale. I think that was there plan for a long time to get BlackBerry private and out of the hardware business. You have someone stepping down on it maybe a conflict of interest in the future a few months ago and now purchasing the company. Like that wasn't planned. I think we will see more things that will fall into place in the weeks and months to come to prove thats been in the works for a long time. Time will tell.

It might be worth while asking Wasta whatsorta support Playbook owners might get going forward. Maybe Blackberry World for Playbook and all other support might be abandoned.

If they buy the company now for $4.7Billion, then they will get the $3Mill cash or whatever it is. If they let the company continue, the cash will be burned up very quickly. Only way to avoid that is more and more cuts and that is why our Playbooks and probably phones too have no future. New owners will sell off or abandon all pieces that don't make money.

What we need, is an independent host for Playbook software and apps. A place for us to hang our hats when the bad guys are gone.

Ideally, they could unlock the bootloader and let people just develop for android. They could write off the playbook, but at least PB owners could still have a fully up to date device. I just don't understand how any of this would undermine the famed Blackberry security, considering HP did it...No one really cares about the fact Blackberry devices are so secure. Other devices are catching up. I think Blackberry need to write off the PB in this manner and move on. But at least then, everyone is happy.

I've heard from a "leaked" source that Prem Watsa has PlayBook... and one of the reasons why he is willing to buy off BlackBerry is because he wants BB10 to his PlayBook...

Now, this "leak" might have a bug... like other leaks...

That's hefty chunk of change to drop in exchange for having OS10 on your PlayBook, don't you think?

RIM CEO Thorsten Heins is sort of like the captain of the Titanic, except the Titanic was popular and people were sad when it sank. But unlike Captain Edward Smith, Heins is either crazy or a liar. Or both.

You could be right and here's why:

Rumor has it that Watsa sent his buy offer in via BBM from his PlayBook, running OS 2.0 while bridged to a Torch 9810 on OS 7.1. Then CEO Heins accepted the offer, replying using cross platform BBM, from a Samsung S4 that had iOS 7.0 installed on it! Actually, he borrowed this super-cross phone from Mike Lazaridis, who had modified the android phone for himself so he could have access to every app on the planet that wasn't 'Built for BlackBerry'. Heins was able to successfully unlock the tricked up phone with a replicated fingerprint of Lazaridis, that he had lifted from a BlackBerry Storm that had to be pried out of MLs hands just before he was retired and escorted out of the Waterloo head office by security. The Storm had been put in the companys hardware technology museum that was opened up last year. Strangely enough, it had been placed beside a Z10 that appeared to have a 5.0 inch amoled screen!
