Hi, newbie here, firstpost. I am thinking of buying a playbook, for a number of reasons, but the main one to help me be a little more productive at work by enabling me to reply to emails etc on the Playbook opposed to my Curve 9360.

My organisation do not issue Playbooks at all, and also have IT policies embedded onto the BB mobile devices blocking certain apps, Facebook etc and even BB messenger. A number of the apps I have tried to download from App World have been blocked, however I have managed to download and open BB Bridge. I have also set up my personal emails on the BB, plus I can create a Hotspot and use my data via my Ipad.

One thing that may be important is that I have a required password IT restriction on my Curve that I cannot turn off.

    I have 2 questions.

    1) Now I have BB Bridge installed on my BB, can I purchase a Playbook and bridge to obtain access to my corporate email without my company knowing, or rather requiring them to add / change the existing IT policies as they would never approve a Playbook for one person

    2) If I removed my personal emails from my Curve, could I simply add these to my Playbook as native, and obtain them by syncing with the Hotspot / wi-fi I can create on my Curve?

Sorry for the complete lack of tech knowledge but I am starting at the bottom here.

Oh, and thanks for having me

    First of all, Hello there!

I dont brigde a lot since my phone sucks for those purposes, but heres what i know:

If you have Bridge in your phone and your IT guy didnt blocked any BT feature(dont know if possible), you should access to every feature o ur PB besides BBM.

Bridge syncs with your phone, giving you access to every peace of data there available(besides sms, call log, etc, at least for now).

1 - Yes, if the corp email is in your phone(of course it is), then you should have access to it.

2 - Yes too. You can register them in the PB. In my case, since i dont brigde a lot, i registered the mails on both devices, phone and PB and works great(i prefer the phone, by miles).

Hope it helped you join the family

You ask an interesting question about bridging a BlackBerry tablet with a BES-locked-down BlackBerry smartphone. I have a BlackBerry PlayBook which is able to connect to my BlackBerry Bold 9780 which itself is activated on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server - Edition Edition. The only IT policies in effect are the standard defaults .

Personal email accounts can be configured within the native email application on the BlackBerry PlayBook thus alleviating having your personal email on the employer-issued BlackBerry smartphone. Remember, unless you perform a security wipe those emails remain on the smartphone. If your employer terminates you, they could potentially read your personal email even after you delete the account.

I've bought two of them. One pre-ordered at "full" price and the next at 1/3 the price. They are both worth every penny. Not one day has passed when I haven't used one of them and I have never regretted either purchase. Get one, you'll love it. Get two, there cheap.

I agree at the price point imo you can't go wrong considering that you could just about spend the same on dinner at a somewhat upscale restaurant or a night at a casino or nightclub I don't see how you can lose even if you wind up just using for email browser e reader watching videos music I could go on and on and on I don't think you will be disappointed.

My BES curve works great using Bridge as well as my personal 9930. Makes responding to emails so much faster esp.using the remote function on the curve.
