Ok I'm now using TeamViewer to keep an eye on my ripping/downloads while I'm in the other room with my girlfriend.

No more getting up to check progress and getting in trouble with her etc - I just see my desktop...FOR FREE...from my Playbook using the browser.

    SO cool!

    That is all!

...tell me about it!! I'll be like "I'll watch TV with you tonight"...so if I start disappearing she gets the hump. This helps that problem.

I think this is another example of where an application isn't required. It works fine as it ks, and no download of an application is required - saving space.

Controlling stuff isn't easy on the PB screen, but it's good for monitoring.

Imo, teamviewer through the web is sad on the pb. Better to use vnc for real time control.

Yeah exactly this - I know it's not great but I literally use it for 'seeing the screen' from another room.

VNC...i'll have a look ath this anyway, if it's better quality it may be worth a few quid.

Logmein to me is the best software to use besides native remote desktop. I have used it for a couple years on android and it works extremely well. I keep hoping to see it pop up in the PB market soon.

these are all wifi based right? you need to be on the same wifi network? Are there any that I can view or control the desktop over da interwebs?

You can use either on wifi or 3g or whatever. Doesn't matter as long as there is data.

Logmein and teamviewer through the browser is not that great on the pb, try it out for your self. It is hard to do things like type, click this, click that. It's better through a windows browser but tablet (not only pb, but others as well), it's not very good.

rdm+, VNC, etc. are a better option for real time functionality, ease of use, etc.

Just depends on what you need it for.

I use RDP to connect to my Windows 7 desktop/media server from the playbook through my home WIFI... for essentially the same reasons, to monitor stuff I've got in progress. The Remote Desktop is better than the VNC I was using, dead easy to configure and quick.

It is pretty cool to run your network stuff sitting on the couch

You should try out splashtop with the Internet discovery
It'll tide me over until I get teamviewer or logmein
With about 30 pcs this is the best solution for me right now..
