I have both a playbook and a pearl 9100 (both from Canada).

I am planning on going to India for a few months and was wondering that if I was to get an Indian wall plug extension for my PB charger, if I would be able to use it to charge my PB + phone without problems. Or if I should invest in some sort of converter to change the current?

(Taking the phone as a calendar and alarm clock)

you won't find any problem in charging your PB and BB in India. Small socket is available at evryshop which could be used for charging. if you are staying in good hotel, it is already there in room. Hope you will have good time in India. For any help, you can pin me. my pin is in signature.

My main concern was whether power outages would effect the playbook (if I need something like a surge protector) and whether the voltage in India would be compatible with a PB sold in Canada.

I don't think there would be any need of surge protector etc. Many of our friends visit here and they charge their iphone, laptop, BB etc in our normal plugs. More so, many of us have bought US/Canada carrier devices and are using here without any issue.

Voltage shouldn't be a problem. Friend got her PB and 8520 from Canada last November and didn't have a problem charging with her or my charger.
