    Tablets at airport security checks
do you take out the tablets from your carry-on and put it in the bin at airport security checks?
or can you leave in your brief case or roller?

In AMS you even have to take out all the charger and put it in the bin
    just wondering

You have to take them out of your bag and put in a tray for scanning

In Canadian, American and British airports they can stay in your bag. I can't speak for other locations as I have not gone through any.

It depends on the size of the airport in my experience. In a small town airport in the USA, they actually made me turn it on to see if it works...three minutes later the agent let me go through. For a moment there the boot lag had her concerned (and me too - didn't want to get tased).

Laptops yes...tablets no. I am not a big traveler, but have enough to know that. In the US that is.

I travel to mostly international destination. Tablet is not a laptop. When ask I always say no and keep it in my carry on that ran through the scanner. Never been ask to take it out.

I usually just put it in the bin, not sure if that's policy or not though

I never take out for this simple reason: they say "please remove laptops or ipads"

My PlayBook isn't a laptop nor an ipad so I don't remove it

I agree. They can ask to see any thing you have if they want to. They can even strip search you if they think they need to. My wife is Chinese and they often search her stuff off to the side and pat her down. We don't volunteer anything that is not required and a PB Is not a laptop.

I assume this is a joke, since they don't ask you to take out tablets.

A few European flights and a number of US flights and never had to show it - always in the backpack. They did seize my 30 year old Swiss Army knife (sniff) which had flown in the same carry-on on the outgoing flight!!!!

I kept mine out to show my boarding pass on screen last flight from NYC to ORD, they just scanned it and handed it back, but I put it in a bin by itself (because it was special) when I went through xray with the leather Blurex case closed in a zippered leather Brookstone folio case, all unopened.

Why did they make you turn it on to make sure it actually works?

I'll be embarrassed standing there waiting 5 minutes for the playbook to turn on.
