Went to look on their website to see if the sale i was told about was on yet, and it is! It's nothing like what is seen in North America but it's cheaper. The PlayBook is now going for $488 - 16gb and $627 - 32gb(for those that don't know Australia includes the tax in the price, so the price on the tag is the price you pay). They don't have the 64gb on the site. I was really hoping there would be a $200 discount but that is yet to be seen. maybe once other stores start carrying it they will drop it to compete.
Unfortunately in Australia Harvey Norman are the official stockists of the PB. Vodafone have been allowed to include them with their BB packages, and a few mobile specialists have had some shipped from the US to be unlocked. Harvey Norman have no real competition, which is why they were surprised when I showed them a copy of the website where I could get one in Australia for $420 they went white. That's what happens when you claim best price guarantee on a product you've been given exclusive rights to in the country. Subsequently, I got the cheapest legitimate PB in he country at the Australian launch.
