My PB has now developed a microsecond lag on the on off switch - are they prone to failure ??

    Hi,
What do you mean? There is a slight delay(less than a second but noticable) on mine between pressing the power button, and going into/coming out of standby...

It's like it's almost not going to click out ( if that makes sense )

Probably just dirt around the button. There isn't anything in the actual switch that can stick.
It's fairly easy to take the back off and clean around the button.

I never use the button. Just the power icon.

Ahh, like the switch is physically 'sticking' in the pressed position briefly? Can't say I have noticed that on mine. How long have you had your Playbook? Was it brand-new when you got it?
Maybe it has got gummed up with some dust or something?
You could try a TINY squirt of electrical contact cleaner or something I suppose and see if that helps. NOTE: DO THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK - I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILTY IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS AS A RESULT!!
