    try the "playbook app manager" extension for google chrome (I'm pretty sure that's the name)

    Yes, there can be risks. Unlike Appworld where rim checks (we hope) the submissions, you take chances when you sideload apps. They could definitely be completely harmless or they could ship off private data!

    That being said, I had a number of sideloaded apps and don't think I've run into harmful issues - some just barf on occasion.

    Look up Playbook app manager on youtube, it will give you a step by step video and is by far the easiest way to sideload apps
