Why? I don't want to keep three locations synced up.
When I sync my phone and Outlook, BladkBerry Desktop Software has to ask me which change I want to give priority to. So if I've edited a contact on my phone, I need to approve the change for the sync, so I don't inadvertantly replace the contact with the old one.
Now with contacts on the PB, there's one more layer of changes to approve every time I change something and sync it.
If I'm somewhere where I have my PlayBook, I'll have my phone with me too. Makes sense to simply display the contacts over bluetooth rather than sync them all the time.
If you're using Active sync with activesync accounts you don't have to keep them all up to date or give priority to certain device. You update on one device, the others get updated automatically.

From time zero, RIM promoted the PB's main ability being "security" of data.
When the BB phone is bridged to the PB tablet, data is retained only on the BB phone.
I am sure that the default option will be NOT to sync.

Yes, but if you're not on a corporate email system, there's no way to automatically update Outlook when I make a change on my phone. I have to plug the phone in to sync it.
