Please welcome Skype for Web (Beta) ? - Skype Blogs

A possible bone tossed to PB users when this is available?

Browser probably would be outdated and that web based skype would probably require a plugin that wouldn't be installable

Unless it's fully HTML5 - which they kinda pointed out it would be back when it was first announced.

Yep, the article states that the initial beta rollout will require a plugin, but after that/eventually...

"You can use Skype for Web without having to download an app before you get started, which means anyone new to Skype can get chatting even faster. Simply sign in to Skype for Web on Skype.com and you’ll be able to connect and start instant messaging directly from your browser."

At this point, it may work in Origami using a support browser/platform user agent. Won't get my hopes up, but we shall see...

Hasn't a Firefox Skype plugin been available for a long time?
