Once BB10 is on the playbook, does that mean all of the current apps in app world will have to be redone by their developers or will they work still?

Nope!

BB10 will play earlier OS's apps.

Some devs may want to improver their apps, but its not mandatory.

BB10 apps will not run on 2.1 though.

BB10 is basically like the next version of Playbook OS 2.1 but will run on both phone and tablet devices and all apps for Playbook will continue to run on Playbook and probably also on the BB10 platform, including converted Android apps.

That means when Playbook gets BB10 is will still run everything you already downloaded.

However, BB10 phones will not necessarily have all the Playbook apps on it automatically.

Apps must be assigned in AppWorld Vendor Portal to be for all of the devices, like Playbook and BB10 full touch device, otherwise they won't show up as a download option on the BB10 phone.

Also, the developer needs to rebuild their app using BB10 SDK for whatever they did their code (webworks or native or whatever). That is easy and shouldn't need any recoding.

However, I am currently working to port my app from Playbook to BB10 and I have to recode for the smaller screen.

Many of my buttons and menus that are fitting on Playbook have to be made larger so you can actually press it with your finger properly on the smaller (but higher res) BB10 screen which is 1280 x 768 or 720. Playbook is 1024 x 600.

So I had to increase fonts and buttons... It looks huge on Playbook but when shrunk down to the size of the BB10 phone, the buttons are still useable.
