hey guys , ive been fan of the playbook since september 2010 and just really love it , yet i dnt have it YET. just recently got a BOLD 9900 and loving it day by day, now the question is should i buy a playbook now since its soo cheap i mena the 64GB is almost 300$ or should i wait for the 4G version.
honestly its not about the 4G , its about the playbook 2 might have a better processor, screen resolution , and OS.

i know there are many such threads but i really cant decide.

    thanksss

Since you have a BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone you can simply bridge the WiFi BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to the smartphone and save the cost of a separate data plan. If an real unlimited data plan for the tablet exists, then a 4G BlackBerry PlayBook might make sense depending upon usage patterns and actual data usage. All things being equal the current WiFi BlackBerry PlayBook is sufficient and requires no new contract.

The current firesale prices of the PB make it the best valued tablet on the market.

I doubt future hardware releases will be anything close to the same value.

    Buy one now.

.....and if I'm not mistaken, there will also be a "plan" for the 4g PlayBook, IMO, why pay extra when you're able to bridge unless the improvements are overwhelming in the 4g

If there is a new processor with the 4G model, maybe RIM releases a chip upgraded wifi version at the same time.

If you will NEVER have wifi available, consider waiting. Wifi is needed to download huge, huge games.
A few PB users don't have wifi & and wish they did.
They don't even have restaurant access to wifi. ( Very small towns)

But there is another solution. Use Conectify on your computer (hard wired to internet if no wifi). This gives a wifi connection you can use for large downloads.

My best guess is that the new PB will sell very well at a higher price. You will enjoy either version very much!

    I love my current 2 PB & won't change.

This would only be true if you buy the PB from a carrier who subsidizes part of the purchase price.

If it was me, I'd get one now because I have a 9930 and wouldn't want to pay for a data plan - bridge is awesome. The newer model might have better specs but who knows for sure at this point? In the end tho, only you can decide.

I prefer the present dual setup with the Bridge between my phone and my BB. I don't have any email accounts, etc. on my PB. I pretty much have all messaging on my Torch 9850. I can, with 100% confidence, let my wife and g-kids play with my PB ! Plus, when I am doing a PB presentation with the Bridge disconnected, there will be No Problems. Period. Full Stop. Doc Neutron

4G may cost a lot, however if you want it, it's really you're choice.
The upgrades we've heard are only minor, so I would just Bridge it to you're Bold.
    You're choice, my opinion.
    Hope this helps!

My plan at the moment is to keep my PlayBook, as noted other then 4G not a lot of enhancements.

But I DO plan to upgrade to a 4G Blackberry OS2 phone then they are released. Then I can bridge from the 4G connection and remain with just the 1 data plan.

    Good luck with your decision!

Love my wifi PB's and do bridge to my phone with no extra data plan. I will keep the interest alive to see what the 4G adds before I decide to purchase.

I also will upgrade to the new BB10's when a slider is available.

Obviously 4G PlayBook won't be as cheap as the current ones, but I'm curious to see how RIM prices them when they come out. I'm thinking a lil less then the original prices, but I guess only time can tell.

I'm curious on the other additions the 4G Playbook has... particularly NFC and the 1.5Ghz Dual Core processor (the current PB's are 1,2Ghz). I'm wondering if these additions make a difference when BBX is released for the PB.

At the moment though, I am happy utilizing my 9360's Hotspot or Bridge as the internet source of my PB. Saves me from getting another Data Plan.

Buy the 16gb at 200$. Try it out for a bit, then wait 6 to 12 months after the 4g comes out, it may drop in price or you may chose to sell you 16 gb and use the money towards. The 4g.

A jump from 1GHz to 1.5GHz is not probably that much significant... but a double (or even triple) size of RAM would do... plus, slot for storage extension (e.g. micro MMC) and an improved megapixel camera...

I'm pretty sure 1.5GHz. Is a decent jump from 1GHz.

Hard to beat the current deal on the playbook, unless you have no wifi as someone suggested, no reason not to take advantage of current pricing, especially if you can get a deal like the one at Staples in Canada with free case and pod charger mentioned in another thread yesterday.
