Screenshot Compression
I haven't seen a thread on this - but does anyone know if the compression for screenshot images can be adjusted?
It's fantastic that the device can take a screenshot. The problem is the screenshots look like they're saved at say 60% quality JPEGs. There's a significant amount of artifacting.
The various iOS devices save these files using loseless 24bit PNG images. I would love the ability to improve the quality of the PB capture. I mean, what's RIMM saving here - a couple KB by using this highly compressed JPEG?
Anybody know if this can be adjusted?

I've not seen any way to adjust the compression of the screen save. There does not seem to be any compression adjustment in the actual camera app.

right, the photos I really have no issue with. It's just the screenshots. JPEG images don't save their compression ratio in the file itself, so it's not possible to determine how these images are actually saved.
That being said, I did a test in saving a full screen photo on the playbook and the size was 204k. I put that same image in a 1024x600 frame on my desktop and saved in Photoshop. At 100% quality, the file was 484k. At 65% the file was 210k. Not exactly conclusive, but enough to suggest that's roughly what BB is doing here.
Should be an easy change to either 100% JPEG Quality or simply to use PNGEncoding.
