I have noticed that once in a while my screen 'flips', I've had a heck of a time getting it back to landscape mode. Are there settings I can change so it doesn't do this? or an easy fix to flip it when I want?

The display will only change orientation if it's on an angle. If lying flat the display won't alter. Therefore just tip your Playbook a bit & it will reorient itself to however you're holding it.

Well you could lock the orientation. But certain apps will only work in specific orientation as well.

Yes, the Orientation Lock is the the one just to the left of the BlueTooth Icon on the top right of the home screen.
