Are you downloading these pictures though native email or bridged email? I've not had this problem downloading pictures, so I may not be much help. It may sound like a long shot, but you might try restarting your PB to see if that makes a difference. I've not seen any restriction on the number of pictures you can download or have in your Downloads folder.
It should be able to save more. How many were attached to any particular email message?
Bridged attachments generally save to the bbphone.
You could try rebooting.
To fix an issue, try these in order:
Restart using the Battery Icon and press Restart
Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds. Then leave it for 20-30 seconds and see if it restarts.
To REBOOT:
Press and HOLD all three keys for about 10 - 20 seconds: PowerOn, VolUp and VolDown. Start with the PowerButton. Keep holding past the 3-choice options screen. If you hear a shutter type sound, you've taken a Screen Shot and probably missed the PowerButton.
Couple of possibilities. First is that you were trying to save a picture using the Playbook's Messages and it was an email you sent out (maybe just to give it a name). When trying to save a picture from your outbox the options Open and Save As appear. Open doesn't do anything. Save As lets you save but nothing seems to happen. The original picture remains wherever it is on the Playbook. Or if you previously deleted the picture off the Playbook it will not be restored this way. (Accessing your email outbox through a browser doesn't have this problem.)
Second possibility might be you created a temp picture instead of saving it. In Playbook's Messages when you single or double tap on a picture from your inbox the picture opens to full screen and you'll see 'Done' in the top left corner. Clicking on Done will go to the Pictures app and there the picture will show as the the very first one in both the Downloads Folder and the All Pictures Folder. They're just temporary pictures. Go back into email and click onto another message. Now go back to the Pictures app and the temp pictures disappear with the number count dropping by one in each of the two folders.
When you just place (not tap) your finger on the picture in the Playbook's email inbox you'll get the prompt to either Open or Save the picture. Choosing Open is like single or double tapping and only a temporary picture will result. Choosing Save allows you to save by the original name it was received as, or with a new name. In the Pictures app it will appear in the Downloads and the All Pictures. The picture will show in each depending on what its name is in relation to the names of the other pictures in each folder. e.g. it might be the 300th of your 400 pictures in All Pictures but the 4th of your 25 in Downloads.
Hello!
I just got a PB for Xmas. I am getting frustrated trying to download pictures to it. I have been trying to figure out 2 things.
1: how can I open and save a picture from an email. The picture is a jpeg. I click in the "tap to save". And I can open the picture but from there it won't let me do anything else. I tried using the + and - buttons but I don't get any prompts on next options once I hit those keys. If the pb developers are reading this a fun key to add to this device would be an option key like the bb symbol key on the bb.
2:. When bridging the bb to the pb is there any way to transfer those pictures to the pb and not just viewing them?
If you are getting the picture using Bridge email, the picture gets saved on a bb phone. The native mail should allow you to save it and, I think, provide an option to even name it.
GhostCommander and android app available for free in Appworld can open and copy pictures from the pb to phone and vice versa. Another way is when viewing the picture on the pb, press the Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time to take a screenshot but the resolution will be reduced.
