Rumor from Taiwan: RIM cuts estimation on PlayBook sales / MS or DELL to buy RIM
- Just want to share -
RIM just cut the estimated sales for this year from 2,4 million to 800-900.000 (!) units!!
Ooops.
But on the other hand, stocks are up by 10% in the aftermarket, because Microsoft and Dell might be possible candidates to take over the company.

06-22-11 08:21 AMLike 0 - Bull crap. The day either one of those two (ms or dell) buy RIM, is the day I buy an iPhone.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com06-22-11 08:28 AMLike 0 - I would rather MS buy then Dell but in any case it would pretty much take away what Blackberry is. MS Phone sucks. The UI of the old ones were better.
Looking at the grand picture QNX would be a great product to mix with MS incar products.
I would probably buy an iphone also. It just seems everything I purchase gets bought out, goes out of business or is just plane not available in the US anymore because of our government.
The short list.
Hummer- the REAL one
Land Rover D-90
Palm Treo 700w
I know there is more but that was quick off the top of my head.06-22-11 08:32 AMLike 0 - Rim is still making money & doing well in other country's. Rim did drop the ball for sales in America but they are trying to make a come back & as far as a take over I don't think there is much to that rumor.

I know a lot of members here seem to deny it but it will take more than a new outdated by the time its comes out bb9900. Playbook went by without anyone noticing it. Marketing 101: Only companies that have trouble selling a product increase its overall advertisement, hence the PB commercials everywhere.
I don't know how the 9900 will be a game changer for RIM? It just seems impossible, while keeping in mind that properly run companies will be comming up with new products also and deliver them on time.
Only time will tell, and we will know and witness that before this years end. QNX comming on BB phones next year are only empty promisses, what you can deliver to customers now is what matters and not what you are promissing for the future.06-22-11 08:35 AMLike 0 -

- Market Cap does not have anything to do with the profitability of a company, it has everything to do with what people believe the value of the company is when investing in it,
RIM has not had a negative balance sheet in as far back as I can recall, nor do they have any debt, and they are operating at a very nice 22% OM.06-22-11 09:37 AMLike 0 - Market Cap does not have anything to do with the profitability of a company, it has everything to do with what people believe the value of the company is when investing in it,

It would not be an iPhone but I would be jumping off the bandwagon if MS buys RIM. No question about that.06-22-11 10:02 AMLike 0
- Not me. I have no problem with MS buying RIM provided that the PB is still supported and not dropped and provided that the two CEOs are fired. Perhaps if MS is in charge we would actually get real Word,Excell, Powerpoint, and MSN apps.nycspaces. likes this.06-22-11 10:11 AMLike 1
- Mike and Jim would never sell out their majority stake for a takeover to be successful. if anything they would step down to an 'arms length' role in the company while still maintaining ownership.
Add to that the fact that all foreign takeovers of major Canadian firms must be approved by Industry Canada - and believe me they'd only rubber stamp that if RIM was a day away from folding all together.
Doomsday scenarios for large companies sells papers, success stories don't.
max06-22-11 10:20 AMLike 3 - RIM doesn't need to be bought out, it just needs new CEOs, or at the very least, someone who can sell the darn products! Someone for RIM like Steve Jobs for Apple. Jim and Mike just botch up every sales pitch they go within a 10 mile radius of...06-22-11 10:35 AMLike 0
