I haven't seen another similar thread, so if this was posted earlier please point me in the right direction.

My PB is running 2.0.0.7971, like other PB owners who had only latest stock OS and no beta OS or sideloaded apps, I wanted to restore from a earlier saved file of my backup fom OS 2.0 but my DM would indicate I have a new OS available to install and it was 2.0.0.7971 (Same OS on my PB). I declined and was curious what OS the DM picked up from my BP, it advised I had 1.0 bundle 0. The restore file from my 2.0 OS would not be compatible until I upgraded to the new 2.0 bundle 7971. LOL short story, I'm now down loading 2.0 bundle 7971 to my PB now (again). Is this normal? I did get the latest DM version already.

My reason to restore was I was unable to back up with my media files (including songs form iTunes), I had to copy / paste my videos and photos to my computer and did a wipe (my iTunes songs are no long on my PB, instead on my BB Torch - no more redundancy). Also lost the demo video and all included wallpapers. It would be nice if I could get them back but not a big deal. I'll be simply using the PB with apps and record future videos and photos using PB.

After the install of 2.0 bundle 7971, I'll try restoring from my past saved files of OS 2.0. Also I was never able to complete a full back up only custom...again problems with media files for some reason.

RIM if this is not corrected, you will still have a product that is still broken. I've had my BP since September 2011.

Thanks Crackberry for your site, though I'm a Neu-B with a few posts, there is a lot of info on the site to help me navigate through my PB and BB Torch.

Backups can be tricky sometimes. There are some who have never had a problem and others who have never been able to do one. My experience falls in between. I have never run a beta on my Playbook or side loaded any apps (just never had the need or desire). With 2.0 i have been able to back up and restore without incident.
If you do have a backup you can do a security wipe of the PB and reload a fresh OS. Then once you have it you will be able to restore your backup. If you have no backup you may have load the apps back from App World but your data will be lost. I hope this helps.
Also be sure to check out the http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...upport-701402/ for great information and read the Playbook 2.0 Manual http://www.google.com/url?q=http://f...ZzO_1QIhkC1GYg

Thanks Hgouck for your reply. After installing 2.0 bundle 7971, all my data was intact, guess it was a sanity check for DM. Will now try and restore from a previous back up using 2.0...Fingers crossed.
