    I had no apps running and did a three finger reset (power,volume up and volume down) and gained 135 MB of free memory.
    Give it a try and post how much you gain.

    Non-trivial operating systems typically use RAM for caching files, among other things. When it needs more free memory, it can ask apps to get lost, kill them forcibly, release memory used for filesystem caching, or release other non-essential resources.

    Sadly, there's no good way to see exactly how much memory is truly available, on QNX just as on any mainstream OS that you might be familiar with.

    The RAM you have at startup (620MB give or take) is still there, but put into service doing something more useful than sitting around empty. That's a good thing.

    In short, you're seeing a ghost...
