Yes, the BlackBerry PlayBook (1.0.0.1710) will connect with the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (5.0.0.0+) via the bridging software. I know this for a fact because my devices have been connected like this since I brought the BlackBerry PlayBook home after waiting two weeks for delivery. I have yet to try the Bridge Browser but otherwise everything functions.
