Has anyone bought that charger? Is it worth it for $50 ? Is there a better place to buy it with a cheaper price?

i'm not sure, its only 200mA more than the charger than comes with the playbook, i can't see it making it that much faster, the only thing that i think is really cool is the magnetic plug.

The charger is great and charges fast. Best part is you cant beat that price. it's $60 to $70 in the market. Go for it, you won't be disappointed, especially when you need a quick charge before walking out the door.

Rapid charger has been essential for me in Paris this week. Without it my Playbook would be out of commission much of the day. I tried the Torch's charger on it one night and didn't get a full charge, but that was a late night and early rise the next day.

It's rated for 24W. Assuming it remains at 5V, that gives 4.8A. The standard charger is only 1.8A. Did I do it right?
    Sheer poetry

now tell me, why wouldn't the charger that it came with just be like this one to begin with?

Almost did it right... The stock charger is 1.8A @ 5V which is 9 watts. The rapid charger is 2A @ 12V which is the 24 watt number.

I'd guess that the stock charger does one battery at a time, and the rapid charger charges them both at the same time with a little bump in current and a big bump in voltage.

BTW, that means the rapid charger is at least twice as fast as the stock charger.

If you dont have it get it. Well worth the money. Got one today and seems at least 2.5 times faster. My pb was charged in no time. This was my worst aggravation so far is that it took so long to recharge. Problem solved. Its a must have.

ok Im thinking of getting a rapid charger as well but I use the pb convertible case. So my question is would I have to remove my pb for its case every time i wanted to charge it?

I posted some more detailed info comparing the rapid charger and included wall charger.

If you charge only with the unit in standby, the rapid charger doesn't provide a significant advantage, since the charge current to the battery is capped just above what the regular charger provides anyway.

If you want to use the unit while it's charging, the rapid charger can give a big advantage as it doesn't run out of juice. It can supply the battery at the max charge current and extra power to run the device at full tilt.
