I just got my gf a 16GB playbook. She was concerned with the eventual charges for tethering so she called Sprint customer service- they said there will be NO additional charges. She has a unlimited data plan.
If you think you need the tethering to use your PB with a Blackberry phone, then the answer is no. You have unlimited data plan then no need for it unless you want to use it on a laptop.
No you don't just bridge using bluetooth and click on the browser icon on the main interface on the pb. Turn urban wireless off it will work with sprint unlimited.
The Blackberry BRIDGE is different than TETHERING.
As diegonei said above..... Bridged with a BB phone does not inccur extra data plan, Tethering does. And you would have to tap the tethering on your settings to use it which will alert your carrier to charge you more.
Doesn't need to be on while bridged. If it gfriend has a blackberry phone download the bridge app and bridge to the pb. If no wireless around you can access Internet by bridging to the phone.

Easy there. There will be no charges over BRIDGE! Tethering can be done with ANY capalbe smartphone, including BlackBerries. Checking with the carrier what are tethering policies is always advices (don't mention the PlayBook or the BlackBerry if you have one, to make sure they don't assume it's Bridge).
There is no Data Compression on it's on on the PlayBook. I am not sure about data going through Bridge. It may be compressed. Here is the path it will trail:
Are you sure that wireless needs to be off?I got BT and wireless on and when I click on pb,arrows flicker on my phone.this is the only way to get web on my phone w/o using tether.
