i sort of stated this in a earlier reply but thought i should post this in a thread. There are so many people now being separated from their families doing shift work that rely on their cell phones for contact to home...well in my case not even cell always work due to ship too far off shore. most all ships and camp jobs have internet due to satellite link..so when we are offshore now i say to the crew..."I must run to my room and call the my wife and kids now" and of course they say but we have no cell...so then i show them my playbook and says this ismy computer..and my phone service.....after a few strange looks i hit video chat and call home....to see the looks that come over their faces is priceless...now quite a few of our crew members are invested in playbooks..but i still have quite a few yet to show....and three more ships..lol...so i am sure alot of us have friends that work away from home...and when we convince these people the true beauty of these playbooks.not only do they buy one..but two so they can have one home too,,,if we cant always be home we can make the best of it by not only having communication home but just to see our kids smile to be able to see us anytime and anywhere

Such a feature is priceless for folks separated from their families, and becoming more commonplace in making video chat a reality from what used to be a, pardon the pun, a pipe dream. Innerconectivity for those of us on the road on a regular basis gives us Jetson's power in the palm of our hands.

yes so true...even away from home like so many of us...in some ways we can now still see our kids grow....we now can actually see our kids making their first steps..so to speak.just wishes blackberry had launched the playbook a few years earlier

Now if we could just get the marketing pull of a few captains like Sig Hansen and the Hillstrand brothers to use the PB on tv we might see a 30' swell in sales!

I like the pb use of the op
    Chaddface and canuckvoip like this.

I totally agree with the OP! I just wish the video chat was for everyone and not just PB users. I have lost all my contacts for BBM, and just hope that RIM can get these people back!

Oh, craptacular, I'd have to come up with 4, I for me, my wife, my eldest daughter's family, and my #2 daughter's family. (By age, not favoritism!)

But with seven grandkids, they have to share, they just aren't getting that spoiled!

Seems like that would make it time to find new contacts!
