I'm having a minor problem with my playbook and photos... I've transferred folders of photographs over to the playbook with no issues, but after the last upgrade I'm having problems... It took ages for the new folders to actually appear in the main application, then, when browsing the photos, they appeared very low resolution... some have sharpened up, but some remain very low res... I have tried reboots, reloading the folder, renaming the folder, renaming the files, but still the issues exist! I can view them as a slide show in files and folders, and they are beautifully sharp, but still when opened in the pictures app they are low resolution!

Any suggestions?

Sam, I've had that problem in the past too, but it usually "clears up" after a few re-boots. I've had the sense that the internal "priority" of fully loading and saving pictures is lower than other operating needs.
You might consider loading Advanced App Manager (either BB World or perhaps sideloaded Android app - I'm sorry, I don't remember right now) just to see if there's some other program running in the background which could be slowing down other functions, including the internal pictures app. After the recent upgrade, I realized that somehow a sideloaded version of Google Maps had been activated, and was constantly trying to get a GPS fix. It was slowing things down and draining my battery. Shutting it down through AAM fixed the issue.
Thanks for the reply... I'll try a few more reboots... This is a fairly clean install of the latest software, with just my media restored... I'm a photographer and have always used the playbook to showcase my work... great when you can link it to a large screen TV...not so good when the picture is a blurred mess!
When you refer to the main application, are you referring to the Pictures app or File Manager? It's possible that some android app is caching thumbnails of your pics, and that these thumbnails are showing up in File Manager.

No, it's actually in the Pictures App... some images open blurred then sharpen within a few seconds, others just stay blurred... I've checked the file sizes and they are correct for the images, so they aren't thumbnails.

Can you post a screenshot of the blurry images? How badly blurred are they? Pacoman might be right that you are seeing thumbnails or some reduced resolution images. And while you said you checked file sizes, the Pic App does not have a Property display so you might not be seeing the real image.

OK... screen shots attached... one showing folder in app... one showing all images, one showing blurred image and one showing sharp image from further along in dsame folder... all images are virtually identical in size according to files and folders!
So you are opening both of those pictures from Files/Folders and one remains blurry while the other is clear? Yes, File/folders does show the image size so it is probably not one of those odd Android byproducts (that can show up in the photo app). Have you copied it back to your computer and checked the image quality there? If you rotate the screen so those Portraits show the long-way, are they clearer? Just grasping at straws. Does it always occur on the same images or will closing that clear one, moving on to others and coming back to what was clear, does it remain clear or can it be blurry at times? Oh, also, how do you copy the pictures to the pb? Manually or some sync method? Are they all jpgs or RAW or other?

Tried copying back to computer and picture is fine... browsing the folder when linked via USB and the picture is fine...rotating screen changes nothing all pictures are standard jpegs, and it's always the same ones that always appear blurred, although others can vary from blurred to clear... all copying done via usb.
And I'm at a complete loss! I know that sometimes the playbook can take a second or two to show a clear picture, but these particular ones never clear! The oddest thing is that I have the same picture in two folders, and the one in the other folder is clear... if I view through the all picture folders, one is clear, one isn't, but if I copy the clear picture into the folder to replace the blurry one, it will be blurry again as soon as I view it!... I've also tried renaming the folder and the picture in case the system doesn't like the file name, but it still keeps coming through blurred!
