Yeah - Ran several tests with very similar results. Possibly congestion and/or throttled by the carrier.
i ran my bridged test 3 times,,, the 3rd was best,,, time of day, ("congestion"), may have something to do w/ that also, like you said...

Thing is, by using speedtest.net, all you're testing is effectively the best WiFi throughput you can get - well whichever is the greater bottleneck - either your WiFi speeds, or your broadband connection. That's not really telling the true tale of the PlayBook performance, merely how fast it can talk on a wet piece of string.

The stats may or may not show your true broadband bandwidth, depending on whether your WiFi network or your broadband speed is the more restrictive.

Not that I've looked, but in the Android world there at least was some benchmarking tools that would give you a generic score on the performance of your device - that would perhaps be more apt - although the HTML5 browser scores will have at least some bearing on browser / surfing performance.

If people really wanted to willy-wave with their broadband performance, you'd be using a device with a wired connection (ideally, these days, connected with gig capable NIC and router - although I suspect in the majority of cases, 100 meg NIC and router would suffice) then running the speedtest.net throughput test.

I have no experience with bridging but have been impressed by the glowing reports as to its benefits. This thread has made me realize that the connection speed drop may be severe. Not sure what cell phone speeds are in these reports.

My phone speed is the same as my bridged speed.

i did a test w/ my 9850 that got 12+mb/s,,, i'm going to post a screenshot tomorrow,,, i was shocked,,, the speeds are directly connected the the quality & speed of your connection,,, i wouldn't be concerned w/ any drops in speed @ all,,, & bridge is an AAAWWWSOME feature,,, if you're considering a playbook, i'd say go for it,,, i'm biased, i have a 64GB wifi one, & find it to be everything i wanted it to be,,, secure, convenient, entertaining, fun, useful, & intuitive...

i don't think any particular connection speed is required but i do know the better the connection, the less issues of lag, stutter and such...

Bridging. Which way to go? These bridge speeds you guys are posting scare me as they seem slow.

I either have to trade my Z10 for a stupid iPhone or buy a tablet. I'd prefer keeping the Z10. But...

Here's the problem: I've Z10 without special apps my business needs require. The apps are made for iPhones (cough!) and for Android (cough, hack-hack, cough, spit!!) but not for Z10s. I'd love a PB, but the software isn't written for them either. So I may have to consort with Apple or Samsung tablets to get the work done. Cruel.

I'm thinking NO Cellphone contract on the tablet, just get a WiFi only tablet and tether it to my Z10 at least until some miracle brings what I need to PBs. Anybody successfully bridge their BB to an iPad Mini, or Samsung tablet??

not quite sure what your asking,,, this thread is about posting your playbook speed either via wifi or bridge,,, we've also compared a few pc speeds just for kicks,,, if your concerned about playbook bridge speeds w/ the Z10, don't be,,, i haven't used one, but even w/ my 9850, there's not much to complain about,,, i can get internet ANYWHERE & while it may not be wifi fast, it's fast enough to get it done in fine fashion...

as far as i know, yeah,,, the bridged speeds are all BBOS,,, any "Z's" or "Q's" out there, post up your speeds...

edit: now that i think about it, the "Z's" & "Q's" may not be able to do bridged speed test,,, i forgot bridge is broken on them...
