I'll continue to let it sit on my bookshelf doing not a damn thing, pretty much the same thing it's done since my developer tools stopped working in November or so.

    Playing taps would be appropriate.

I see the 64 gb version now sells for $189 on Amazon. What a kick in the pills. And it still does little more than it did on launch. Even after the OS 2 "Okay, we are serious Now!" farce.
I saw 64gig ones on 1saleaday or some similar site for $139 the other day. New, not refurbed.

Jeez, have none of you heard of FaceTime on iPad? There is a whole new world out there once you leave this junk behind.
Even Skype on the HP TouchPad works better, and it's pretty bad as far as Skype implementations go (although not nearly as bad as the iPad Skype app was until about 6 months ago)

    Porns.

    Sent from my BB10 smartphone.
This is about the only good use I've found for the PB so far, because it does have a working Flash Player, and a damn good HTML5 implementation for a mobile device.

Despite what some here seem to think, my PlayBook hasn't suddenly become unable to:

    - Reply to email
    - Surf the Web
    - Watch videos
    - Rent movies
    - Play Music
    - Look at Microsoft Office Docs
    - Play Angry Birds, Plants Vs. Zombies, Cut The Road, Bard's Tale, Chimpact, Sonic, Dark Knight, Amazing Spider-Man, Modern Combat, Samurai, NOVA, Madden, Tetris etc
    - Tweet
    - See Facebook updates
    - Find me cheap gas
    - Show me recipes
    - Help me edit and share my photos
    - Read the daily news from the National Post, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, MSN News,
    - Listen to the radio
    - Look up contacts
    - Find nearby restaurants
    - Act as an alarm clock
    - Video chat with my mother
    - Stream NFB movies
    - Act as an alarm clock
    - Book my appointments

Having BlackBerry 10 may have improved some of those things but not having BlackBerry 10 will not suddenly prevent it from working as it has been for me as a tool.
But it does all of that so very poorly.

From what I'm reading in the forums, the Playbook in it's current state would not have been able to handle the upgrade anyway. It's still good for basic business needs especially when I'm on the move from client to client. So i still have use for it. I have been thinking of getting the Samsung Note tablet, I'm just not sure how it will perform for business. My Playbook will remain my tablet.

I honestly think that Blackberry will not just drop out of the tablet market like that. It's a profitable market. I think they just scrapped the current version of the Playbook and a new one is in the works. Thor is good at surprising everyone. I would like to think that while they were working on it, they realized that it could work but with the current hardware, it would cause too many problems with the performance. So they scrapped that project and started a new project for a new Blackberry Tablet. I don't see it happening this year, more so in 2014. Until then, I am happy with my Z10 and I will keep using my Playbook while keeping the faith that a new one will come to market.

I'm going to continue to use my playbook, even though it is now a zombie, despite the fact BB says they'll continue to support it. Hopefully the PB will get some good updates to expand it uses.

Even if they don't, I'm looking forward to seeing someone open it up to other OSes so we could prove this 2yrs old tech can still hang on..

That and it would be a slap to BB's collective faces.

I've already returned my playbook (January 2013), as I long lost my faith in BB10 on Playbook.
I find my lack of faith relaxing.

I don't think you are going to get any agreement on this point. If you listen to and believe what Thor has said between now and his original promise of BB10 on the PB, then you wouldn't believe a new tablet is in the works. His words and actions lately scream "gettin outa the tablet market... see ya". As I would have been pleasantly surprised if BB10 came to the PB, I will also be pleasantly surprised if we see a 2nd tablet from BBRY. I am no longer the optimist when it comes to Thor and BBRY - sorry, but that is just the truth after this announcement.

The only reason I actually used my PB for was media streaming with PLEX. That still works pretty nice.
Email, PIM and apps are just way better on the Z10, so no reason to touch my PB...

Really - absolutely every single solitary thing I listed it does "poorly"? Not good enough, not well, not "meets my needs" but poorly?

If you don't like how it does any of those things, that's fine. I find it generally good at what I need it to do.

Video Chat would be a great tool if I knew anyone other than the Crackberry people to actually chat with... In other words, NO ONE I KNOW owns a Playbook.
One of the reasons I bought 2 PlayBook is because I do a lot of international traveling and I can Video Chat with my wife from just about anywhere in the world.
Now what? Who else offers video chat on their tablet? I'm a devout Blackberry fan. Not throwing in the towel yet.

No, I'm half serious! It seems like almost everyone is torqued off at this BB10 thing. Since I can't really afford to just buy a tablet on a whim, I say the PB in its current iteration is many times better than no tablet at all. Then again, I'm the type who's easily contented. I still love and use my 9650

I bought the PlayBook April 19th 2011 at 10am at Best Buy. I did not buy it because of a promise of what is to come, I bought it because of what I saw, HDMI connecting port, Web-browsing with Flash enabled, multi-touch (proven with Scrap-Book), multitasking, size, bridge, V-chat with friends in Trinidad and across the states. And that was PlayBook OS 1. On PlayBook OS 2, Emails, Contacts, etc. Better browser, predictive keyboard, better apps and the list goes on. I am sorry that your purpose was only because of BB10, for that you should just stayed with the phone! My $0.02!!!!!

Still a great OS and the tablet quality is the best there is. Does everything I need it to do. Love watching live TV and twit.tv on it.

Looking now in the used market to pick up another one cheap.

This opinion is clearly being reflected in the poll results so far. Not to speak for everyone out there, but I think the BB10 disappointment is all about the apps. No dev in their right mind was going to continue with the PB apps after the announcement of BB10 coming to the PB. So we all sat waiting for the APPS, not necessarily the OS. BB Hub sounds nice, but most of us want Skype, the official Kindle, and many of the other recently released BB10 apps. IMO, the dagger for me is knowing we got no shot at the latest and greatest BB10 apps on the PB unless devs specifically bring it. And why would they when Thor made his pronouncements? They would be insane, as would we for sticking with our PBs.

A short YouTube vid of a couple of playbooks going thru a woodchipper would be fun to post and then send to Thor and the gang. So far we have 19 candidate PBs for the job...

I love my PlayBook.. I still think it's awesome, even though it won't get BB10... but mine is going to go inside my car, it's going to replace my stereo. no videos while driving tho.

Odd, that is my plan too. Get a cup holder mount for 7" devices and hook it up for playing Slacker radio and podcasts while driving. Maybe audio books while I'm on long road trips.

I was planning on buying another playbook for a backup but as I browse the marketplace I see 7" Tablets with better hardware AND massive app support for the same money. I'm keeping this playbook as it now has no resale value but I am jumping ship and getting into a new product line.

Same as always. Web surf, stream music and video, take photos and videos, check out the stars at night. Works just like it did two days ago.
Hey... can you easily browse pictures and documents?! sort it by folder and date?! I find it to be a pain to browse files in PB!
Also.... does anyone know a way to put skype rolling on the PB?

    Thank you!

The PB will hold 3 bottles of beer at a time and if you have one of those ones with the bulge in the back, you can use it as a lazy susan. Load some Mp3's on in it and you would have a stereo lazy susan. A lazy susan might even have a higher resale value on craigslist.

I cannot agree with that statement 100% Just a couple of days ago (maybe a week), the PlayBook received The Dark Knight Rises (Batman Game) as well as Modern Combat 4. So, someone is still rooting for the PB and those are not cheap android ports, RPG. My $0.02

I gave props to Gameloft for doing just that, earlier in the poll thread. I think they have given the PB more love than the CEO. But not too long ago, someone said something like "tools not toys"... So I want the apps more than just the games. Pandora, Vine, Pintrest, Hulu+, Instragram, ooVoo, just to name a few that we are [fingers-crossed] hoping come to BB10.
