I like using a stylus chiefly because I don't put a lot of greasy fingerprints on the PB screen. But the screen does, however, pick up dust particles from static electricity.
I am happy with the Surface Pro. I like the screen size and the ability to basically run any Windows program. Very fast browser, too. Windows 8 runs very well on it (better than on my desktops). I love the type keyboard also. It is a little on the hot and heavy side and thicker than some tablets but offers true laptop or even desktop replacement. Poor battery life.
I purchased GoSmart stylus and I was really disappointed. It is below average for drawing and useless for writing. Have tried with several applications. No screen protector on my PB.
The stylus itself is not defective as it worked on Android devices I tried (yet screen protector is an obstacle).
There are positive reviews about usage on iPads as well.
It's a pity it doesn't work with Playbook, as I like the design. See it there: Welcome to GoSmart! - Home

My GoSmart stylus has been sent back to Amazon.
(GoSmart doesn't cover return shipping...)
New stylus just arrived - Jot Pro.
I picked this one up on Ebay, as Adonis support has mentioned Pro model as suitable for Playbook.
First impressions: better than GoSmart, but still not satisfactory.
I tried it with following applications:
ScratchPad (native), ScratchPad (sideloaded), Quick Notes, BluePrint Drafts, FreeNote.
It works better with FreeNote, so I'll try more, may be I can adapt my writing style. Or may be I'll find the application which is more "Jot" friendly...
Boxwave is a great stylus for getting around the PB and browser - and at a great price. I haven't tried it for drawing or writing. It has a mesh tip that gives it additional durability and firmness where plain rubber stylus seem to give out after time.
