So last Sunday was Youth Sunday at my church. So I videoed all the youth presentations (choir, praise dance, etc.) with my Playbook and several other parents used their iPads and Galaxy phones. Well needless to say, my Playbook videos looked so much better than the videos taken on the crapples and galaxy phones. The video was so sharp and clear, bright colors and lighting was perfect! The audio was also flawless, no garble sounds or feedback. Now all the parents want copies of my videos after I edit them and upload to Youtube. Another reason I just love my Playbook!

Great story! A 2+ year old tablet and it still bests the competition in many ways. But hey, maybe one of those zillion iPad apps can improve its camera?

please do. i highly doubt a phone made in 2012 and 2013 have a worse camera than a tablet made in 2011

I agree with the OP, I think the bright colors of the PlayBook stand out against him others. The videos I have made with my PlayBook are outstanding!

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".... fortunately, most of them are probably having the same "eyes"...

By the way, the skills of the person taking photographs or videos are very important... that is why, there are even classes or training for photography i.e. to acquire this skill...

Don't forget that the PlayBook has stereo microphones, too. With the front-facing (stereo!) speakers, it's almost like being there. Can the iPad come close to this?

Lucky you who was allowed to make the recording. If you'd lived in the UK, a security guard would've jumped on you while another prised your PlayBook from your hands. You would then have been kept pinned to the floor before being arrested and taken in handcuffs to the station (you Yanks call it "downtown") where you would be fingerprinted, photographed and questioned for 3 days before being released on police bail, only to arrive home to find all your windows smashed and "brun the peedo" spray painted across the front wall.

But well done on showing all them fanbois up.

No comparison. SG and Iphone handled motion quite well; the PB looked very jerky and not as sharp. On a trip to India last fall I had my PB and an HTC One V phone. The phone handled motion very poorly. The PB was better but had a tendency to freeze up regularly for several seconds. Haven't compared my PB with my SG II LTE HD phone, though I suspect it would do better as it has a faster processor (1.5) and 8 megapixels on the camera.

Have you tried using the Voice Notes record app? Test the recording sound using it? Other sounds, music, videos you copy to the pb work fine??

How can anyone holding on to a Playbook compare that device to anything... much less the leading tablet. Didn't Blackberry abandon this device?

I bought a 64 GB PlayBook a few weeks ago after comparing it to the iPad Mini, Galaxy Note 8.0, Kindle Fire HD, and Nexus 7.

Even if what you say is true and BlackBerry has abandoned it, it still has many great features that other tablets don't.

all other copied videos and music play fine. only the recording is distorted. i have done some research and many with 64gb us version have this problem with the right side microphone. any idea where i can send it to repair? or just an app to disable the right mic?

Really glad to hear your story. I'm not at all surprised because I find the PB takes awesome video. Thanks for posting your story.

It's impressive the way a 2 year old device can blow away the performance of newer more "popular" devices. The market never truly gave this device a chance. And yes I think BB botched the PB launch... And yes BB took too long to release BB10... But none of that detracts from the remarkable quality of the PB itself, including its REALLY GOOD HD VIDEO RECORDING capability.

I can't resist commenting on how many people came after you with negative comments. You clearly stated the comparison was between the videos you took and the ones others took at the same event. It is comical some guy comes in here and compares 3 videos taken at different events and claims it is a valid comparison, who knows what differences in compression, uploading, editing. But he sure ballyhooed about it.

Good for you for posting your story. It completely matches my positive experience with my 2 year old PB that is still going strong. Posting this remark using my rock-solid, reliable performer, always-on PlayBook!!!
