It would be nice if you could video chat with people who don't have a PlayBook.

Playbook VideoChat is like Facetime, best way to control a new system is to not have it communicate with systems out of your control

Video chat is completely useless to me. None of my friends have a playbook. They need a cross platform chat app or Skype ASAP.

I agree. I don't know anyone that owns a PB either. Although, I might start seeing some soon because they all seemed to be impressed with my PB yesterday.

    email Skype!!!!!

Everyone who "needs" Skype "ASAP" needs to email skype and let them know you are waiting for this product, the media has done EVERYTHING they can to make the playbook sound like a Dud, so many developers have not even started to develop for it, it takes us owners to show we are waiting for these apps!

    As to this Thread topic

Add me to BBM first, if we hit it off on BBM then video chat is the next step, but I don't really feel like playing chat roulette on my playbook

Upgraded my OS at work this AM. Everything looks great. Can't wait to try out the VidChat. But I'll have to wait until I update my wife's PB this evening to try it with her...
If I weren't at work, I'd be eager to try it with one of you just to see that it works, and how well...

    Later,
    Brian

ok mooda, i'm at work...but want to give this a try before the day gets crazy.
    going to contact you.

Update: Just tested with a friend that won a PB (lucky #*!) , and it worked great.
Now to use it for business, it would be perfect if it allowed a group video chat.

i think there is the presumed eventuality of a skype app enabling video soon...of course i won't hold my breath, even on the mighty iphone 4 it only became available over 1 year after the U.S. launch and months after the CAN launch....my guess is summer time frame....
That would be very much incorrect. The iPhone 4 had video chat over WiFi and G3 within 4 months after launch.

    Please do your homework.

BBID is meant to replace PIN's.

RIM has a huge disconnect with the PIN culture on their system.
I'll gladly share my pin. But my BBID? That is a bit scary
