We tried the new app reelportal but the ipad cannot load the site correctly via safari.

My PB is back on a store shelf somewhere, hope to be an ipad2 owner when BestBuy gets stock....so I don't know what the newest playbook apps are, but I'm guessing skype will let you do this as I saw someone skype from their desktop to a smartphone (also running skype). You can bet the native RIM & Apple video chat apps won't play nice

Android 2.2 cannot do it due to some hard coded issues with the default camera being the Rear Facing Camera. Reelportal is working on Android 2.3 and it is working in very specific tablets.

Skype trumps this due to user base, but ReelPortal is a very simple solution and free.

Clarification:

I have a playbook. She has an ipad2. We would like to video chat.

We have tried reelportal which works for playbook to PC but not playbook to ipad. She cannot load the rooms when using Safari at reelportal.com.

The native aps obviously don't communication with each other.

Skype is not out yet for playbook.

We tried gmail/chat but couldn't get it to load correctly on playbook, even when using the browser.

Any suggestions besides waiting for Skype?

Sounds like its an iPad 2 issue...I would try an iPad forum.

Reelportal.com is based on flash.

The iPad does not support flash.

Therefore, it doesn't work.

Solution = non available at the current moment. Give it some time.

It's the right forum, op was asking an honest question, in a place where interested users might see it. Did it bother you? Hope not.

I am wondering why the Gmail chat didn't work for the playbook... that would be a good solution I suppose, yet the playbook's browser can't handle it?

I am using Trillian via the browser. GTalk is usable via Trillian.

Tin cans and a string between the devices is more practical than any app solutions I've found. Good luck in your quest.
