yes, thats the point of this, how to connect the playbook to VGA.

Vga includes old projectors and monitors/tv anything with a vga port.

what you need is an hdmi to rgb adapter. Trouble is to convert those signals you need an active box so theyre quite pricey

As for the op, HP will charge you a fair whack but if youre happy with unbranded / oem gear a quick google will get you the adapters for about 5 each (didnt try ebay but i'll put money on there being a few listed)

Please let me know whether the attachment will do the job and will i be able to insert the hdmi pin or head(don't know what to call it)in the picture into my playbook, and is active box actually needed.

Those wouldn't work. You need either Composite or SVideo cables. Those are component. Difference being that Component carries video in three seperate cables, while Composite uses 1. Component is better of course, svideo is in between.

the whole setup cost me less than 50 usd, about 45 the hp hdmi to vga and 4 bucks the micro hdmi to female hdmi.

So far this is the only adapter that converts digital to analog that isn't a box and doesn't require an ac plug. I strongly believe adding a VGA to s-video cable to the setup on top would work something like this Amazon.com: TV-out VGA to S-Video/RCA Cable Adapter: Electronics

Would like to know if the following would work with the playbook? And of course that would be complemented with a HDMI to microHDMI converter.

Nope. There's nothing to convert digital to analog. I don't even know why they make such cables. Maybe there is some device whose HDMI port also puts out analog, in which case this cable might be useful, but the PB isn't one of those devices.

Phew...luckily JasW you replied me. I was considering to buy a cable of such, because in university they only have vga ports, and i won't be able to use the playbook unless there's a converter.

Such as the HP one as posted by elokito?

Yes -- it has a converter, and as long there is a converter, you will be good to go.

Edit: Here's the link to the HP cable/converter ($39.99 US):
