Well, probable the OP is looking for a vga adapter for projectors. At least I am because where I live most projectors on universities and conference rooms only USE VGA-out cables

oh, good call...projector - didn't think of that, just assumed "monitor"; even still, newer projectors have DVI inputs now too...and, if VGA is the MUST-have way, there is a company/product that I found via Google (HDfury) that may have the solution...I don't know much about them, so not 100% - but looks like it could be the possible answer for less than $100 (if buying JUST the adapter and not one of their "kits")
I'm sorry, but a HDMI to VGA adaptor will not work. The standards are simply not compatible.
There are cases of some manufacturers making custom plugs that support VGA over HDMI (hence the cables), but that is specific to those devices is is not a universal standard.
You can get a converter box that changes the video format, but a simple $30 adaptor will not do anything.
If that's the case, he needs to call me and I'll sell him some nice new projectors with HDMI connections (I do IT sales, mind you, im just in my second week right now, doing bits of training here and there lol)

just a projector with dvi will work.
All he needs is a microhdmi to DVI cable, as the standards are fully compatible.
This is a big issue for me also. I wanted to use this in my classroom but the projector is VGA.
I was wondering if the BlackBerry Presenter will work with the PB.
It works works!!!!! I can display PB HDMI output on my VGA monitor - the HP adapter/converter seems to do the trick

The HP HDMI to VGA adapter definitely works correct? I am going to order it and I just wanted another confirmation before I did... I also need a micro hdmi to female hdmi adapter correct?
Works great here too, I ordered 2 of them and both work exactly as expected. The PB even gives you plenty of resolution options with the adapter hooked up. I found the quality to be quite good as well!
I have a nub adapter and a 6" adapter and both work well. I haven't tried hooking it to the end of my 15' HDMI cable with a joiner, not sure it will work at that length, but I'll give it a shot at some point.
in order to go from hdmi to vga, you have to have the digital signal converted to analog....and that is the cheapest and smallest device i was able to find...
HDMI and VGA are too different, to send the data and convert it, that is a scam product, the HP product works like a AC->DC conversion box to change the type of data from digital to analog.
