Hi all - any way of tracking a playbook.
Yep left it on the train yesterday eve - has a password lock
Hopefully whoever pics it up realises it's not an ipad and gives it in or the guard has popped it into lost proprty (I find out after 2pm)

Sorry for your loss, this is one of my biggest fears losing my Playbook... :(
I hope RIM get Blackberry Protect working on the Playbook soon, even if it is only available when it's on WIFI.
Knew I was on to a no win when the southwest trains lost property chap said what's one of them then?
To bad they do not have Blackberry Protect for the Playbook. At least then you could leave a message as to how to return it.Hope someone is honest and gets it back to you.
Well stone the crows - it's at lost property!!!!!
Still though - would have been easier on my mind if there was some remote wipe option.
You got it back? HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?!?!? That would NOT have happened with an iPad! Most certainly the person thought it was junk when they couldn't get past the password. You are a lucky man! Congrats!
Now don't do that again! :p
glad you got it back, there are still some honest pepole about
I'd like to think you are correct. But my gut tells me they bricked it by trying 10 different incorrect passwords and then said "Screw it, take it to lost and found so we look cool". :p
Maybe the OP can give us an update on it's status one he picks it up.
Cool ! glad you got it back, and congrats to the honest finder.
FYI, so far I've understand correctly, Protect will be embedded with Blackberry Cloud.
I think I posted that some days ago, but can't remember where ...:o
10 misses wil result in a wipe, not a brick. :)
Oh, well maybe there is an honest person left out there.
i am happy you were able to recover your PB. There are honest people in the world. I have had my wallet returned with all its contents. Again, happy ending to what could have been a costly situation.
If your PB is password protected (and not a 0000 like pw ;-)), it's safe ...
10 missed tried and ... wouuuuf ... back to birthday suit !
Cheers all - by all accounts the guard picked it up. Back in my hands now and no need to wipe!!
This weekends lottery numbers are .............
:-)
I think you just won the lottery! Congrats! :D
Had to add this very late note. I lost my Playbook at Walmart yesterday, and came across this thread while hoping for a way to track it. I went back a couple of hours later, no luck at the lost & found, and then retraced my steps through the whole store. I notice the same cashier working, but at a different register, so I approached him and asked if he remembered see it. He smiled, reached under the counter to a tucked-away corner, pulled out my untouched Playbook, and said (to paraphrase) with a straight face, "I was afraid to leave it in Lost & Found. I was afraid it was going to get lost." Then continued, "My manager and I were going to check the iPad to see if we could find you, at the end of my shift."
I thanked him profusely, offered him a reward which he turned down, a hug (which he accepted), and he also received several big smiles and kind words from the patient customers in the line-up. I tracked down his shift manager, and he told me that he (the manager) didn't know much about tech, so he and the cashier were going to look at it together, to see if they could track me down.
Let me tell you, my name and phone numbers are going on the outside of my Playbook now (where they weren't before). The best service I've ever received from a Walmart, ever!!! Thanks Anil and Roger.
Lorraine - GREAT STORY. And Congrats on your pb's recovery.
I have doctored my PB Wallpaper to show my email address in the upper Lefthand Corner. It really only shows in Landscape Mode when the Password screen shows up. It could be placed in two locations to show in both orientations.
Been a few of these stories over the years, glad these turned out well for the owners. I have my business card taped down well on the back of mine with the word REWARD written on it, also on my laptop, but if nothing else just throw a card or two inside the case so an honest person will know to return it to at least.

hi,
my blackberry playbook-P100-64WF 64GB was stolen but who ever stole it thought it was a phone but does not sim card, however it can only be used with wireless connection, wi-fi. The challenge i am facing and asking, is that it had a pass word protection to open and i am the only one who happen to know. Can it be traced? if so how?
The model is RDJ21WW.
Shall be glad to get your response
There is no BB-Protect on my BB-PB. So I think there is no way to track it.
It is good that it was PW-protected... It'll be wiped and your information is then gone. Who ever has stolen it has now a "new" playbook, factory reset.
