Do you have the blackberry bridge from Tmobile app world? If so then you need to get a copy of the bridge without Tmobile's block built in.
Where would I find that? I just don't understand it because it was working perfectly fine just the other day.
If you have the 5GB or more data plan, tethering and mobile hotspot are free on those plans. I would call customer service and ask. It's something they don't advertise. I found out here on Crackberry.
I do have an unlimited data plan (5gb @ 4g speeds) so that should be the case, but I just hung up from a TMobile rep and he told me that I was misinformed. He also told me that I was lucky I got to use it for 7 months for free. So now I'm curious to know if anyone else is having this problem. The free tethering was one of my favorite features.
Just tried it - I didn't get the popup page. But I have one of the old unlimited plans with T-Mobile so YMMV
Go to RROYY - APPLICATIONS and find your model and download the bridge for the playbook. Make to delete the Tmobile version first and reboot your phone and then download the rroy version and you should be good to go. Let me know how it works out.
I thought that it only applied to AT&T's version of Bridge, not T-Mobile.
Sorry to hear about that. I did make sure to add those features to my plan about a month ago.
I'll give it a shot later today. But I was really passed when I saw it wasn't working.
Tried it but no luck.
Do you really mean Tether (connecting other devices as well as your PB), or Bridge which is *ONLY* your PB? Sounds to me like you do mean Tether.
I mean tether through bridge. Where you go to settings and Internet tethering, that doesn't work for me anymore through TMobile without a hotspot plan. I have a torch 9810 running 7.1 official not leaked.
I am in the UK with an unlimited plan on the three network and they have just changed their policy regarding this. I was told if i use it i would be charged for the data i use while i am tethered, they want to sell me an upgrade for double the price of what i am paying now.
I hate mobile carriers but would like to know how they can tell if i use the tethering feature on my android phone.
I have a 5g unlimited plan from T Mobile. First of all, if you use the Blackberry bridge there is no need to turn on the tethering. The bridge does it for you. Also, about a month and a half ago T Mobile was running an unadvertised 'free hot spot' special. I called up and got it with no problem. I suggest you call them again. At the most it should only cost an additional $5 a month. Be firm with them. Ask to speak with a supervisor is needed. Good luck.
I tried to tether to my Bold 9780 from my PlayBook using the default T-Mobile tethering Profile on the PlayBook. I too got the T-mobile screen saying I needed to sign up for a Hotspot plan for my mobile device. I have been a long time T-Mobile subscriber so Tethering should be included.
I ended up looking at the APN as setup on my Bold and created a new PlayBook Profile for tethering using this APN:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
No username or password was necessary
All worked fine the next time I tried to tether from my PlayBook to my Bold.
Hope this helps.
you are confused as bridge and tethering two different things
bridge works fine on my US T-Mo BB 9780 and my PB64
no need to get a tethering contract
Bridge installing is a breeze
the reason that the PB exist in the first place is the bridge link from the BB phone to the PB, otherwise we all would have Android or Apple tablets
I do use tethering when I am in Europe, and I use a European phone and SIM with a EU dataplan. Works pretty well and beats the 30 Euros hotels charge for 24 hours Wlan or WIFI. Call and data roaming in the EU is pretty cheap and you can recharge the with your CC. and you pay per GB used, without time limit. Unlike in the US where a $30 prepaid dataplan is limited to 30days or so
:):):):):)
Bridge was only one 1 reason I chose a PB. Please don't make such comments for the rest of us.
Tmobile is now charging for bridging. Tethering was off and hotspot was off. Tried it the same way I've been doing it for 2 years. Just recently began charging. I don't know how they know I'm bridging, isn't that more or less an app and not creating a hotspot?
