Bla1ze recently posted about bb10 and the PlayBook. I think it's possible. It's not like they would have to do heavy amounts of coding. Pretty sure the chip architecture is the same and that's key. 1gb of ram will run apps, just like it does already on 2.xx... The PlayBook doesn't even have that high if pixel density, that should make things easier on the memory and cpu usage. Furthermore, it would encourage growth in the tablet market for BlackBerry. They would have a version of BlackBerry 10 that works. One day we could possibly see a playbook 2 then... I like shooting in the dark haha...

Can the dev Alpha devices run the lastest shipping BB10 and if so is the memory footprint smaller or larger?
That's an excellent question. As soon as we have an autoloader for the STA100-1, anyone who still has a Dev Alpha might want to try it out.

BTW, the PlayBook runs a very similar chipset to the STA100-1's. In fact the 4G PlayBook runs exactly the same one.

For me it is bridge and the browser that I need for the PlayBook. Definitely don't need the hub.

Updated runtime/ability to install apk's directly like on BB10 would be perfect for me. I know I can get a cheap android tablet that does that, but I already own 3 playbooks and this would certainly extend their lives.

Suppost this new OS works on PB, how many stores do we know carry this? Looking @ Blackberry.com I don't see anything about PB selling on their website. However, any update on PB is always welcome.

None. About the only reason to continue updating it is to try to keep some users from migrating away so that they have a presence in the tablet market. Assuming they want to maintain one.

Hoping they do more than just keep PlayBook owners in the next update...how about BlackBerry inspire users! Come on BlackBerry you would get great coverage in the press for having LISTENED to those loyal to the Brand!! It would show that you have turned a corner!

Developing a version of bb10 for the playbook (even a light version) will bring confidence back to blackberry products with new and past blackberry users.

Will also help for the development of the next playbook platform, which is needed to succeed in the world of the mobile workforce. Apple android and microsoft all have phone and tablet platforms, as you need both into days world.

All I need is a playbook with nowtv

Look in the PlayBook OS forum. It tells you what parts were updated. Not much.

Let's wait until the Z3 comes out. That will tell us the final word on bb10.

That was the last patch. PlayBook OS 2.0 and 2.1 sales and support ended April 2014. Software Support Life Cycle - US (Go to the BlackBerry OS tab)

I think this puts the nail in the coffin for any BB10 talk.

It's the final nail in the coffin for 2.0/2.1 being supported on the PlayBook...

It *could* mean a newer version is coming in April - and that is why those versions will be retired from support. Or... more than likely, 2.1 is the last OS on the PlayBook.

BB10 better come or else... PB sales were inticed on it from a CEO. In most even developing countries enticing sales by fraudulent means is a criminal offence under a good few different Acts of legislation in each country, the cave age was hundreds upon hundred years ago its no longer fight of the fittest but the most intelligent.
