I called BlackBerry today for support with my Z10 and ended up talking to PlayBook by mistake.

Anyhow, when I asked if we will get another update for the PlayBook, whether it be the OS or the Android runtime, I was told that it's going to get BB10 and the new Android runtime. I pressed him on how he knew this and he said that it's on the BlackBerry intranet websites.

For what it's worth, that's what I was told and if it's true, I don't expect that it will be full blown BB10 but perhaps just enough to allow other BB10 apps to run on my many PlayBooks.

I guess we'll see.

So has anyone else seen this? Putting this info in perspective, they wrote playbooks off and took a big hit to their bottom line in the process yet, they are going to update the loss with bb10? Doesn't really make sense to me. Dont get me wrong! Would love bb10 on my playbooks but just can't see it happening

PlayBook is a very sensitive word in CB forums. You will see a lot of folks defending it saying its 3 years old and there is no reason to update it and let it die.

Since BlackBerry has already said it is not coming, and the fact that there have been no leaks (Which seems to a common thing when even a small update is done to the BB10 os) or any other information to this regard, I would tend to trust the official word from the company and not the word of a call center employee.

I will not hold my breath but remember the PlayBook was pulled by the former leaders of BlackBerry. Just maybe Mr. Chen & Co. have a different plan for the PlayBook as maybe Enterprise customers are stating the importance of a tablet to go with the phones on their contracts. Rocking 24-7 with my Z10 & 16gb PlayBook.

I know it exists. But software is optimized and since the Z3 is 1.5 gb of ram. Pushing it to 1gb is technically possible by cutting a few things for the PlayBook BB10.
