I had my playbook plugged into my tv and a wireless headphone plugged into the headphone jack. I unplugged both and now my speakers don't work and when I adjust the volume it says "headphone volume". I've reset the playbook 3 times now and it doesn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried reinserting your headphones and then removing them?

There is normally a contact that breaks (or makes) as parts of the headphone socket assembly, sounds like it is stuck or dirty or basically not returned to its previous position, as above, try re inserting then removing several times

I had the same problem on my bold 9700. There was a piece of dust stuck between one of the connectors, so it appeared to the phone that there was a phone connected. Blowing out the dust helped.

I have had this happen twice with my Playbook. Just re-plugging in the headphones and removing them fixed it both times.

get canned air, use the straw attachment, and blow out the inside of the connector. That'll at least ensure there's no dust or dirty stuck in there.

First, try re-enabling sound from the headphones, play an mp3, pause, play it again. While playing try unplugging the headphones once or twice.

    Have you restarted/rebooted the device?

To fix an issue, try these in order:

Restart using the Battery Icon and press Restart

Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds. Then leave it for 20-30 seconds and see if it restarts.

    To REBOOT:
Press and HOLD all three keys for about 10 - 20 seconds: PowerOn, VolUp and VolDown. Start with the PowerButton. Keep holding past the 3-choice options screen. If you hear a shutter type sound, you've taken a Screen Shot and probably missed the PowerButton.
