RE: PlayBook still rocks

Bought my 16GB PlayBook more that a year ago (Dec. 2011 to be exact). 2 days ago the play/pause button and right speaker started acting up. I had to press the right side of the front facing camera to make them work. Since it only came with a year warranty, I'll try to open it up later when I get home, probably just some loose connection/s inside. I am contemplating of buying another playbook (32GB this time) or an iPad Mini as replacement. I love how my PlayBook handles multitasking but the lack of apps is its downfall. It's the opposite with iPad mini, lots of apps but not good at multitasking. PlayBook's UI is clean while I find android's (I have a Nexus 7) not as pleasing.
wait to decide on ipad mini until ios 7 hits. Apple has a history of making first gen devices crippled in features pretty quickly
Yes. Seems a lot better. Keep in mind the Z10 has 2GB of RAM as well. That has to be a big help when it is acting as a "modem" so to speak.
i will put it this way. With my PlayBook bridged to my Torch 9850 it "felt" like it was a bit slower than my WiFi but still very use-able. With LTE it is definitely faster than using my WiFi.
My honest opinion is that I'm kind of tired of the Playbook. Ever since I updated to OS 2.0+ I've been experiencing constant browser crashes, and they occur more often than they should. Doubtful that it's my 16GB Playbook, as I experienced the exact same issue on my other 32GB Playbook. And with the update the Playbook lost it's ability to play videos of almost any format, which was a huge plus for me.
Ultimately I'm waiting on BlackBerry 10. If for some reason we don't see an update I truly have no plans on sticking with the platform. Also strongly disagree with claims like It's "Better than the iPad or Nexus 7" etc.. The reason I don't agree is because performance, app ecosystem, & stability wise iOS & Android 4.0+ provide the better experience. The areas the Playbook OS leads is flash performance & multi-tasking..
So It really depends what matters to you the most. While I love the multi-tasking on the Playbook, it is lacking in other areas far too much. Today I would not be happy to spend $199 or the original price on the Playbook. As there are much better alternatives. Of course my mind could change altogether when I get my hands on BB10, so far what I've seen and heard of BB10 I actually love more than any mobile experience I've seen, but again the current Playbook OS does not cut it for me.
I'm not trying to troll, I just think It's important to be objective. Why not review the Playbook honestly rather than getting your love for BB involved, thats the only way to give an honest assessment of any device. I hate fanboyism from all camps, whether it be Apple, Android or BlackBerry..
