Playbook Screen and a Stylus
I'll begin this post by saying I love my PB, have had it since September and I haven't had any real problems with it. I will mention an Ipad here in comparison, but I don't want a different device, so please don't treat this like some of the other threads looking for an argument.
One of the things which would be very useful for me with my PB would be taking notes, either during a meeting or whilst generally working.
I have bought an adonit Jot Pro stylus for this, as I wasn't happy with the performance of other rubber tipped ones. I've tried this on a few of my friends iPad's, and it works brilliantly, very accurate and feels like writing with an actual pen.
On my PB I don't get the same response, the screen requires a significant amount of pressure before it registers that I'm trying to write with it, making for a very unnatural writing style. It means that if I'm trying to jot down things quickly the PB only registers half the word that I've written making for a very hard to read notes page.
I originally thought the problem was with the app's I was using, but to date I've tried:
Scroodle, Skit, Gen.Paper, Note Smartly paid version and the annotate function of Jotsy.
Scroodle has the best performance for me, but as it seems to be aimed at drawing more, it's not great at taking notes. Skit has an ok performance, but suffers alot from pressure issues. Gen.Paper and Note Smartly don't seem to 'refresh' (Take a sample of where the contact is, not sure what this is technically called) regularily enough leading to jagged corners and very sharp looking writing (square letter 'o' and things like that).
Jotsy works well for the highlighting, but again the actual writing side isn't great.
So has anyone had any success at writing with normal pressure using a capacitive stylus? As I said, at first I thought it was the apps, but the number of them I've tried with no great success seems to point more towards the actual PB - the screen material or something similar? I have noticed than very few of the writing apps seem to get updates, is it just that the apps aren't fully developed / supported, or will the PB just never properly support this?
Thanks
