Hello, I am considering purchasing a PlayBook. Does anyone know of a reputable place to order a new one that is on sale for a good price? I'm not too concerned about amount of memory. Thanks!

If you are in the States (or Canada?), you really don't have to worry about the amount of memory. All three versions are priced the same $299.00. Note that the sale is through January 28th. You better hurry.
Here are a few retailer (will update with more links):
https://forums.crackberry.com/e?link...token=Mpha8_Vc (not the best return policy, but no tax)
https://forums.crackberry.com/e?link...token=9CAUnpSt (14-day return policy with no restocking fee)

If you want to save a little bit, eBay is your best bet (but I don't think you can define eBay sellers as reputable).
No place better than Amazon if you have access. With Prime account, free 2-day shipping and no sales tax (thru this year anyway). 64GB selling for $337 USD. I look there first for just about anything except perishable food.
But its $299 at BestBuy
Office Depot did have them all on sale for the same price as well.
Thanks for the responses. I am located in the US. I did see that the BlackBerry store has them all on sale for $299, but also noticed lower prices on Amazon for the 16GB model. Just wondering if there are any other alternatives...
How much room does the OS take?
No place better than Amazon only if it's SOLD and SHIPPED by Amazon. Looks like Amazon doesn't have any in stock. All current listings are in the Marketplace (return policies and service are not even close to Amazon's own).
Radioshack offers a 30 day no questions return, free shipping, and the $299 price for all three models. Some stores also carry them as stock....
Not much. If you go for a 16Gb, you'll still have about 14Gb free space.
You may also want to check Craigslist, but sales there are usually final (no returns).
Btw, shopblackberry doesn't have tax. Anyway, at $299, the 64Gb version is a steal.
Thanks. Radio Shack is also a good option (add to cart to see the sale price).

You can also find a $20 off $175 Radio Shack coupon online to bring the price down to $279 + possible tax.

OP said "reputable"...
LOL. Worst Buy is still "reputable" in the sense it has decent return policies (store returns and no restocking fees).
You got me there. Didn't click through to check stock. They listed 320 in stock about 2 days ago.
Darn shame these PlayBook things are not selling...;)
Yeah, I'm a little weary about the Amazon marketplace due to return policies in case there is something wrong with it. I guess I am being a bit of a cheapskate, but I am looking for a price a bit less than $300.
I demoed it at the local Staples where it was still going for full price and I thought the web browser was really slick. Part of the reason I am looking for a better deal is it seems like the PB may be going obsolete soon and support may end up lacking like the HP TouchPad. The hardware and software is really well designed though.
Any tech you buy today, however advanced and new, is already obsolete. Thus, following your logic, one shouldn't buy any technology product.
Besides, with the prices of tech products (laptops, tablets, etc.) becoming more and more affordable, I don't think you should be worrying about things becoming obsolete. It's not like you are buying a car.
Most importantly, what you are probably talking about is psychological obsolescence, not functional obsolescence. If so, the questions is "Why should you care that other tablets have quad-core processors or ... (fill in the blank) when yours works just fine with its two cores and ... (fill in the blank)?"
As for support, (1) TouchPad/WebOS is still supported by HP, (2) with OS 2.0 coming, the rumors of RIM not supporting the Playbook have become less plausible.
I should have said unsupported, such that there is no real traction in the dev community to make apps for it. That's the thing that I guess irks me about tablets is that it is sort of an investment into its ecosystem. I guess if some other kind of flexible OS could be installed instead, that would be extra insurance in extending usefulness. Rather wouldn't though.
I hear what you are saying about RIM not dropping support, but the reviews are so bad (not really justified IMO) it seems likely devs will be slow to adopt.
For what it's worth I ordered mine from radioshack and it arrived in two days with their standard shipping. I used the $20 off coupon and the total including tax was ~$295. The unit I got was perfect, no bulge, no dead pixels, just perfect, with a build date of 21/12/11.
Developers are coming. Slowly but they are. Yes, you are right, the Playbook does lack many "essential" (in quotation marks as essential is a subjective thing) and useful apps (e.g. Skype, Kindle, Google Maps, Netflix, and many many more). It is possible that these apps will be introduced to the PB soon but it is also possible that they will not.
As for the OS itself, from my own experience using Android tablets and the Playbook (I haven't used iPad extensively), I can tell you that the Playbook's OS is much more suited for the tablet form factor (of course, this is just my individual evaluation of things). As someone has mentioned on this forum, it is as close as you can get to the desktop OS (Windows, OSX, etc.) experience.
With all this said, my suggestion is for you to buy the Playbook only if you think it meets your current needs in its present state. In that case, all the stuff that will later be coming to the Playbook, will be a bonus for you :).
Good advice. :)
If you're lucky enough to find a store that has it in stock. Otherwise you will pay for shipping, which will put you in the same price range.
Best (or worst) Buy has all the new ones priced at $299 but refurbs are running $169 (16gb) to $219 (64gb) and are in stock as of right now. refurb inventory moves quick so if you are looking to save a few extra bucks, that's an option for you.
Really liking the PB 32GB, especially on-board audio (and HDMI output). I still use an iPad2 but the PB is fantastic for portability. Using the Kindle reader on Android Player which is slow and buggy. Wish Amazon would release a fecking native Kindle app now.
PB H/W is great. I know I can't get 1 MM apps but I don't use 1 MM apps. I need 12-15 really solid core apps that work 10/10. PB on-board stereo audio is very good indeed.
