on the carphonewarehouse website [web deal]
anyone know of any cheaper, or if the US deals will/would be replicated in the UK?

Pricing in the UK seems disproportional given your currency is worth approximately twice as much as the Canadian or American currencies. On the bright side prices on this side of the pond have returned to near those levels again at most retailers.
I reckon you'll be waiting for those US-type low-low-low prices for eternity unfortunately. :(
The UK market has a long tradition of �1 = $1 pricing points, despite the reality of the the exchange rate of �1 = $1.50.
I haven't seen anywhere cheaper than carphone warehouse myself. Anyone else know different?
Edit: To add a little "balance", the US $199 price will have sales tax added to that price I believe, whereas VAT is included for us Brits and we pay the price on the tag... but we still get stiffed for the exchange rate difference. :(

Ive been studying the prices dropping in the US and figured they may just drop here in the UK if only by a little bit, well I kept on watching Amazon as they seemed the cheapest and sure enough that week (about 3 weeks ago) the price went down �75 so I grabbed one.
that was on Amazon UK however after ordering it appeared they are shipped from the states.
I had mine in 3 days and I paid, �260 for a 32 gb, only issue was that it came with a US charger, but after an e-mail they gave me a �10 discount.
ive just looked at Amazon and the same seller is now advertising �314.
prices always go up before xmas, you may be better off waiting until after.

I'd be very cautious about buying at simply electronics, there are too many bad reviews for my liking.
I've been looking at buying a playbook in the UK since I saw the black friday prices in the US.
$200 is the equivalent of about �160, after 20% tax is added. The cheapest I've seen them in the UK is �200, and now they've gone up to �225, which is 40% more expensive than the lowest US price.
Amazon is rumored to announce the Kindle Fire in the UK in January, and judging by the prices of their other kindles, it should go for about �165.
I'm hoping for a sub �200 playbook in the sales, ideally under �180. If that doesn't happen, I may go for a KF instead.
As a point of interest, in one forum, an employee of carphonewarehouse stated that the playbook outsold all the android tablets put together in his store.
i was in birmingham today and went into the carphonewarehouse shop up from the bull ring - they had two PB neither of which they could get to work .....

i think ill get one from a shop that physically exists in the january sales ..... [ just in case i need to take it back - if my experience in CPWH today was anything to go by!]
Unconfirmed rumor that CPW will be selling playbooks for �169 from the 26th.
I hope this turns out to be true. I'll be buying one as soon as the store opens :)

I've reserved the 16Gb for collection. I wanted the 32Gb, but there was no stock nearby.
I wonder how many PBs Curry's has available? I'd like it to be 1'000's, but I really can't see endless queues of eager PB buyers stretching down the road. :) So it surely can't be that many if they are running out of stock within hours of the offer launching?
All good though, these are eBay prices but with the retail warranty. :)
BTW, apparently CPW are price-matching on the Currys offer... so you might want to see if you can get your 32GB first-choice from them.

Hmmmm normally when i decide to buy something the price drops rapidly 3-6 months later , not two weeks ! Only bought a playbook from PC World 2 weeks ago and now i could have got a 64GB for the price i paid for the 32GB..... :(
Mind you i'm glad i bought one , fantastic bit of kit !:D
Wife will be home for Xmas holidays tonight, I may not see her if I'm setting this up! ha

I think the free case deal is over. They didn't have much stock, anyway.
I got the 16Gb one in the end, gambling a little that USB host functionality is on it's way.

Just reserved a 16Gb at Curry's but guess I'll have to wait till boxing day to collect.

Carphone warehouse website states all deals on playbook are "web exclusives" but they are available at the same price from the stores, but the store price ticket on display does still show the old prices. Just picked up a 32Gb direct & cancelled 16gb from currys.

I've reserved the 16Gb for collection too. Today visit my local PCW and found out they got one 32gb -bought it so lucky :) Check stock in shops around by person - PCW website is rubbish.
got my 32gb yesterday from CPW at �124 (traded in a old 9700). i have to say that i am extremely happy with the playbook and the new os in february is likely to make it even better.
