Of course, they are working on OS3. Features, whatever they may be, that didn't make it into OS2 will hopefully be in OS3.

    Correct, no real surprise here.

In other news RIM is secretly working on phones we don't know about!

Yes I think something like this is more accurate... BBOS10 is the phone version of the OS2 qnx tablet software...

Yea OS 2.0 features would already be locked down by now. By now all they are doing in OS 2.0 is tweeks & minor bug fixes.

I always expected another major Playbook OS update after OS10 came out.

You mean they might even use those fancy 3d printers they have to try out different form factors?

I've always assumed they used them to make lucky charms cereal sifters for their employees.

OS3 will hopefully be the version in which we see BBM. A toll booth attendant told me that his brother's father-in-law cuts the hair of a Best Buy employee who is having a secret affair with a girl who works at Staples who was told by a Blackberry rep that 3.0 will be released on Sept 1.

Are we really beginning an OS 3.0 speculation thread before 2.0 even launches? Keep calm, Be Bold.

I think it's awesome how Rim didn't give up on the playbook even when getting bashed time and time again. This tablet is going from being laughed at to possibly the best tablet in the market. I feel great about my investment and I am a proud blackberry user. Rim FTW!!!

Speaking of ICS. I hope that OS3.0 will have an Android 4.x compatible player...No need to do that yet as ICS is just rolling out on Android phones...but a year from now there will be some good tablet specific apps out there written for ICS

Any company not work on 1 or 2 future revs of hardware and software is doomed to be left in the dust.

In my industry we have newly released, the next gen in R+D and another in concept stage all at the same time. Its the only way to survive in a fast paced market.

The funny thing is that you can say the same thing about the Touchpad except HP gave up on the TouchPad .

So far I prefer WebOS & BB OS (QNX) to iOS, I haven't really used Android to really judge it yet.

the only difference between 2.0 and everything after it is what they could squeeze in on time.

2.0 required a lot of resources to get native email and PIM integrated. Because of that, features such as DLNA had to be put on the shelf.

Also, Cascades is not fully ready yet so the REAL fancy UI couldn't make 2.0 but will be there in the future.
