I have .668 installed right now and I just got an update to install .668. I also heard some people who have .358 are also getting the update. I wonder if they are re-releasing .668?
If it's appearing, which I can't confirm, there is a good reason for it. It's to help with the update to 2.1 as they need to test all available upgrade paths, like they do for each OS release.
Say for example a person buys a PlayBook still running and old OS, as soon as they open it up they'll get prompted for an update.. if that upgrade path from that old OS to the new OS was never tested, things could go bad. To avoid that, RIM tests each upgrade path they can and the more people who are on 2.0.1.688 the easier the roll out will be as they know the majority of folks will update.
So would this be a new .668 or the old one? And being on the beta I would have to use dingle or cfp and downgrade to .668 to get the new .668 update then to 2.1?

I wouldn't think so, you're already on 2.1 so your update should be easy.
I've learned my lesson after the last .668 upgrade (had to downgrade and pretty much lost everything on my PB). I'll wait until majority confirm there isn't any issues with new release or 2.1 comes...whatever comes first.
Hmm.. Just checked to see if there are any updates. I have 2.1.0.840 installed and it says that there is an application update available - Version 2.1.0.840, Size 298mb. Strange. I already did this a couple of weeks ago.
