    Hello,
i have noticed a drop in my battary life after updating my playbook to the OS 2.1.0.1088 because on the average use of my playbook during the day it would go down to 50% of battery but before i updated it would go down to 70% on a normal day, is anyone else experiencing this or am i the only one? And are there any tips on how to save battery power, i already have my screen brightness at 30%
    Thanks.

Battery life is approx 10-15% worse with OS .1088 compared to OS .1032.
I don't why and I have tried all the tricks with no success.

I can't say the BL got worse on mine. It appears to have gotten significantly better. I would estimate maybe 20 to 25% better.

Yeah, I noticed a slight decrease in battery life too. It doesn't matter though as it still lasts me all day anyway. But strange that Marty_LK got a boost. Maybe has something to do with the type of apps we use on a daily basis.

I've noticed a slight decrease in battery life as well. Such a small update, I thought it wouldn't change much.

Same here, it seems to be slightly better after the update.

Mine is way worse. I used to plug in for a charge every other day or so, now doesn't last the full day without the 9% remaining popup. I unplugged at 100% from the charger 1 hour ago and I'm already down to 86%. I've tried everything I can think of and everything recommended on previous posts but no luck on any significant improvements.

Same here. I used mine pretty much all day yesterday (web + games) and only got down to around 40% left.

It used to use 60% of the battery just sitting on the table not being used.

I've been monitoring mine with Battery Guru and my battery life has been relatively unchanged after both updates. My wife's was a little worse after the last update but after a couple of hard resets it's actually been a little better according to her. We have 8 at work and two developed worse battery life after the last update, by about 20%. By the end of the work day they would usually average around 50 to 60% left but these two in particular were now ending the day with around 30 to 40%. We found the settings had changed from our defaults and when screen, history, application permissions etc..were returned to previous settings and hard resets were performed, all went back to normal. Battery life on the 8 are all fairly consistant now and no change from previous updates.

My battery life seems to have remained pretty much the same. I will admit to being one of those "crazy" people who shuts down their Playbook at the end of the day (usually when I fall asleep reading in bed and it smacks me in the face ) so mine has been restarted many times. Funny thing is, everything works great pretty much all of the time. Go figure... And nothing anyone can say will convince me to leave it on all the time - if it's working perfectly, I'm gonna continue doing what I'm doing.

I was considering the battery guru app. Would it be effective to determine what part of the upgrade or what app is causing the increased battery drain? It would be great if there was an app for the PlayBook similar to the Application Management program in options on my 9900.

For the past year, I installed every update as they were becoming available, then installed betas, then stacked on more updates, followed by betas and so on. Installed that 1088 update and my battery life actually got better. It was always good, but it got even better. I would charge the PB every 2nd day or so.

Then I went on and security wiped my PB. Re-installed the 1088 update, and now my battery life is total cr@p. I need to plug it in once a day, and I don't use it more than I used to.

I have a feeling we'll see BB10 on the playbook before that happens.
And that I think won't happen until at least a month or two after the BB10 handset launch.

I have read more than once in here that problems appeared after doing a wipe which seems crazy to me. A clean install should give better results not worse. RIM needs to get this one figured out but I doubt we'll hear anything from them before BB10.

No, Battery Guru does not provide any info on which apps are being run or their particular impact on battery life. Although you could track that kind of info yourself (when run, how long) and compare that info to the Charts/data you can create when you export its readings and load them into Excel.

    _______

Well then count me as another "crazy." I think shutting down the PB at the end of the day is a good idea. By the way, I am still on version 2.1.1032 and the battery went from 100% charge to 59% charge in the space of 2 hours. And this was while running PB still plugged in to AC outlet. I multitasked a couple of programs but, by and large, I closed one program before opening another most fo the time. I was mostly on the Animated Weather app, scanning AppWorld apps, and reading email and the Vancouver Sun newspaper.

Would you consider this excessive battery drain for 2 hours use or is this normal?

I did some testing. After .1088 I get 5 hours of usage time. On .1032 I used to get exactly 6.5 hours.

So that's a definite significant drop for me.

This is an abnormal behavior. The battery can't delplete while the device is plugged in an AC outlet.

Actually, it has happened to me too. I think I had not connected it correctly, and it didn't charge, but maybe it was draining the battery somehow.

Here's a little update to my battery life situation.
I put a Device Password and bam! My battery drains as slowly as it did before the security wipe.
I did have a Device Password before the wipe, and I had not put one back in after the wipe. Aside from having less loaded apps after the wipe, that was the only difference I could think of.
