    Suppose you have looked at logs to see if they shed any light and looked at the Toollkit.

    I am having the same problem with the 9900 and playbook hotspot connection and would really appreciate the step by step walk through.
    Sure:

    On the 9900
    1) Turn on the wifi hotspot on your 9900.
    2) Wait for it to fully enable
    3) Goto the "Network and Connections" menu
    4) ->select "Mobile Hotspot Connections"
    5) from there - hit the BB Menu button -> select Diagnostics
    6) Note the "Router IP address" - this is your 9900's IP for your local wifi lan. Mine is 10.0.0.1. The 9900 hands out 5 addresses from 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.6 using DHCP. You will want to choose one of those addresses for your playbook. I chose 10.0.0.4.

    On the Playbook
    1) go to Settings->wifi
    2) Select your saved wifi profile or create a new wifi profile.
    3) Enter your security setting as normal
    4) Uncheck "automatically obtain IP address" - some new field will appear
    5) Enter your data as follows
    IP Address: This is the number you chose from step 6 above: 10.0.0.4 in my case
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 - This is google's DNS address - you can chose any good DNS IP if you know how to do that. If you are in the USA, use google's.
    Default Gateway: 10.0.0.1 - This is your 9900's local IP address from step 6 above.

    6) Save and connect.

    Now you should be connected to your 9xxx wifi hotspot.

    BlackBerry
    RIM support took logs from my 9900 and my Playbook. They found there is a bug in the playbook DHCP incompatibility between the OS7 wifi hotspot and the Playbook in DHCP request response.

    Yes, definitely let me know how to do that. Makes perfect sense since I updated about a month ago.

    No, generally its for when we travel and they don't have the reception. I have a different carrier than they do. Also, the hotspot is a ton faster too for whatever reason.

    I have tried this several times and it goes right to my wife and will not connect with the hotspot. I'm probably doing something wrong

    Sorry - I really didn't understand your post. Does your wife have a BB hotspot too? Maybe your are choosing her phone A/P instead of yours. You might want to be a little more explicit in order to get more help.

    Try changing the security settings of the hotspot on the phone. Or better yet removing security of any kind then try to connect. If that works then you might have to change it permanently.

    I tried all the steps but I don't see any of the 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.6 numbers TO chose. I see the 10.0.0.1 after menu/diagnostics but then what is the next step to see the others for the PlayBook?

    Thank you!
