If I am watching a movie format that has 5.1 DTS sound embedded in it on the playbook and using HDMI out to my receiver and speakers, will the playbook actually produce 5.1 sound or is it 2.1 only? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to download 5.1 movies over 2.1 because the sizes are so different.

    Thanks.

There are only 2 speakers so I'm guessing 2.1

At east that's how my movies sound.

Your receiver should decode to the intended 5.1 sound.

A couple things, the movies I've bought for the playbook are 5.1 and the receiver confirms this on it's display.
Are you sure audio is the only thing causing the size difference? Something big enough to worry about is the difference between DVD and Blu-ray quality.

Check the movie file. I THOUGHT that playbook doesn't handle DTS, so if there's an alternate audio stream embedded in the vid file (such as stereo), it'll switch to that. Yes, that is using Kalemsoft.
